I don't need them for any rips I've done just yet but you might consider adding these systems since I have seen rips in the past:

Amiga CD32
Atari Jaguar
Atari Lynx
Bandai Wondersawn/Color
NEC PC-88
NEC PC-9801
NEC PC-Engine
NEC PC-Engine Super CD
Nokia N-Gage
Panasonic 3DO
Philips CD-i
Sega 32X
SNK Neo Geo
SNK Neo Geo Pocket/Color

Also I think Computer should be divided into Windows PC and Mac.
I added the systems you listed, but about the computer thing, I'll leave that up to cubed.

For rips that were done by other people than those listed or by unknown rippers, could there be a "Other/Unknown" option? This might lead to a mess though, I'm aware of that, but still, I don't know what better way there could be to enter those rips into the database.

Also, do you still have plans to make the site go public? If so, do you have a specific date in mind?

Damn the last backup before the crash was done earlier than I thought

I was asking you guys about the impact of going public just now. Do you think I should add accounts or "anonymous" submissions is still fine ? Cause frankly I haven't worked much on TRS lately. The only thing still missing is the FTP/directlink insertion, which I thought would be a great idea. Any FTP owners volunteers ? PM me please.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Accounts, definitely accounts. Otherwise we'll be looking at a lot of vandalism and fake entries. No fun at all.

And as you know, there's plenty of hosting available, so don't worry about FTP's and servers.

How ya doing, buddy?

Well I meant I'd rather have "gamerips dedicated" FTP, fast, reliable, so I can direct link them (kind of how it worked with Cubed World). For example buddyA's FTP has Final Fantasy XXIX gamerip, but buddyB's doesn't. I won't need to edit the page manually, as the script will log itself to the FTP of both "buddy" and show a green or red flag whether the wanted rip is found or not.

How ya doing, buddy?

I'm seconding the accounts.

I run an FTP server and I wouldn't mind being a host at all. Two things though - one is that I lost all of my VGM on Easter and I'm trying to gain it all back (which shouldn't be much of a problem since I mailed a hard drive to Kairyu) - the other is that I can't keep it on 24/7. I'll try to do something to make the latter happen though, if I can be a host.

I think I'll agree with the accounts. There are only so many people who are going to be inputting information anyway. If they're serious about contributing, they won't mind registering -- especially if you make the process easy and secure.

Additional Spam:
For reference, here are some of the posts that were made since the last backup. I got these from a subscription email.

Well let's all debate. Wide open. Just like that. All together.

Do you think I should create account ? Do you think I should insert some kind of admin maganement just like GFA did (when it was alive -_-) ? Those questions discussed out of this thread until now... I want to know how people are expecting the rippers' stash to become.

.. Like... to summarize what has already been discussed.

To avoid having any wrong info added and good info removed by malicious people, I guess that creating accounts would be a solution. On the other hand, all of the update charge would be upon those with accounts, so it might make things more heavy and difficult in the long run, if the database is to become even larger than it already is. So, it's not an obvious choice to make, but for me, I'd opt for the safer side, by including accounts. However, I'd give enough to make sure there are several people involved so that the updates can be made regularly and in a lighter fashion.

What I'm expecting from the stash is an elaborated database for game rips, which is something that doesn't exist on the web (or anymore... see cubed world ). A central point of reference! It would have to go public too, to reach its full potential of usefulness.

I agree with Rimo. I envision The Rippers' Stash as the place to check to see if a rip of a certain game has ever been done (and if so, who did it, where it's available, etc.).

I was speaking idiomatically.

hi I'm a blind as a bat reading comprehension-deprived jerk asshole who bumps old threads.

Did a rips database ever happen? I really need a reference to see if I'm going to be making unnecessary rips if I ever get around to actually ripping stuff.

It's been a while that I didn't work on new updates for the website.. Sorry guys ;_;

I might have some free time tomorrow (I'm not working this weekend WTF). I'm going to create accounts, as it would be more secure to avoid any wrong submission. But I still want direct download links... So it's not really going public just now. Sorry.

well, please PM me when it's ready for usage by trusted individuals. and, uh, I guess when I'm a trusted individual.

(Wouldn't it make more sense to open a public beta version that only features direct downloads for SFV/TXT/NFO files, and then demo the direct downloads of music in a place on your webspace that isn't easily accessible?)

To everyone who's working on this project: GFA is now known as VGMdb, and our focus is now pretty much limited to actual albums (and digital releases packaged in album format). Which means no clashing of interests, and happy collaboration possibilities!

It's probably a bit early at this stage, but if you're interested feel free to shoot me a PM.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I haven't heard anything from cubed on the project for several months. I'm still hosting the site currently.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.
