Salt

Ah, the great salt thread is back to spice up GFF (pun intended).

Do you use a lot of salt, or perhaps you dislike it? Do you believe salt will ruin your dreams of becoming old, or don't you believe it at all?

I personally love salt, and put it in/on top of lots of things. It just tastes so good ._.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I'm not typically one who will sprinkle salt onto something... especially since I don't keep table salt around in my place. Spinkling salt on my food would entail shaking small rocks of kosher salt everywhere or sea salt everywhere ^_^
Two different salts for whenever the need arises while cooking ^_^

I put salt on everything, be it french fries, popcorn or even steak. I prefer coarse sea salt to the regualr kind as I think it tastes better. I realize a lot of salt is bad for you, but so is eating too much ice cream. Yet no ice cream afficionado will give up ice cream due to that, and neither would a true salt lover.

I might put a bit of salt in something when cooking to add a bit of flavour, otherwise I don't tend to at all. My food's fine without needing to cake it in salt before eating.

I put salt on a lot of things as well. I picked up on it from the rest of my family, they are all the same. One thing I found that is good is to sprinkle a little bit of salt on pizza. The taste is very good.

I have to be honest. I use a lot of it because Hawaiian food is salty in the first place. And the shoyu we use to put on our food is just as salty. But it just makes Hawaiian food taste better.

My whole life I had never sprinkled so much as a touch of salt on a meal. A few years ago I took my first sprickle and was henceforth hooked. It was a magical moment to be sure.

I haven't got used to eating salty food. I generally dislike my food too salty. I guess it's something you just need to get used to. I don't like it how you feel thirsty after eating something very salty. I think most ready-made foods, fast food, in a restaurant or in the supermarket are too salty.

I had been putting salt on top of everything for a while, until about a year or so when I started noticing that everything I was salting, already had a high sodium content. In fact, in seems almost everything these days has a high sodium content. But thats for another thread.

So I have cut down on spicing up foods unforunately =( the only thing I really go salt happy over is popcorn. That's understandable. If it wasn't for my family's history of high blood pressure, I probably wouldn't hold back so much.

Depends on the food, I guess. If I'm preparing something myself (like fried rice or whatever) then usually I'll add some salt, but if it's a dish at a restaurant, I rarely ever add salt. I also usually refrain from adding salt to anything that isn't cooked on the stove (like pizza or a sandwich) -- just usually doesn't need it in those cases.

Of course, some foods (like plain popcorn) demand salt. ;o

I don't really mess with salt at all since high blood pressure runs rampant through my family. I do eat a lot of salty foods, though. When I used to use salt, I would stick a lot of it on fries.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

After the food is cooked, I don't add more salt. For meat and vegetables, I'll probably add some while they cook, but never afterwards. Soy sauce also makes food salty enough for me.

I ate insane amounts of salt. I was on a quest to find the most saltiest tortilla cheaps at the cheapest price, and always bought the most saltiest foods in quanity. Cup noodles were my best friends.
But I heard it kills your pallette and taste buds.
Then I stopped cold turkey.
Even the slightest saltiness i sense and it irritates me, i add more rice.

Salt makes me gag. Especially when they drench it on fries. Ick!

Salt with my potatoes. Not in excess amounts either. I don't really put it on anything else. Oh, I add a little bit to the water I boil when cooking pastas. That's about it.

Salt JUNKIE. Salt JUNKIE.

Salt JUNKIE

Love the stuff. Especially the stuff that comes in the little packets at wendys; I take that shit and dump one whole packet on my fries (no matter the size, it gets ALL of it) and my double or triple gets salt between the patties.

So yeah, I kinda like it.

Salt is the best spice....not only does it make foods test good, can preserve and used for homemade icecream...it's also great for practicle jokes. True Story: A friend of mine left his 40oz Slurpee unguarded for damn close to 10 minutes. The thing was pretty much full too. After about 5 minutes my other friend casually got up, grabbed the salt shaker and dumped about half the damn thing in the Slurpee. It quickly sunk in out of sight and a few minutes later...the other guy walked in. What proceeded was the most fantastic display of spitting, cursing, death threats, and then utter sadness. Truly was amazing and it is all thanks to the wonderful spice salt.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I don't consider salt a spice. But I prefer to eat food that isn't that salty. I'm pretty sensitive to salt, so I try to stay away. I find salt overpowers everything.

Salt is one of the greatest food-enhancing items ever made. It's right up there with cheese and whipped cream. However, too much of it will {sigh} kill me.

I like to put some salt on my food, but never much at all: I like things to taste salty, but only to a certain degree. If that point has been crossed, I can't stand to eat whatever it was I was salting without adding something like, say, butter--in the case of rice--to help lessen the salty taste.

I love salt. Not only do I have to eat it a lot for health reasons, I just think food isn't the same without it... I just don't like salt-less food.
