Watched Scream4 last week. It's more of tribute to the first movie than a 4th sequel. There's a lot of reference on the first movie, and those who haven't seen the past movies might get lost in the names being mentioned. Pretty generic shock value, but the twist has the same Wes Craven feel to it. It's a nice movie to watch with friends on a lazy evening.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Watched Super8 last sunday. It's a pretty good movie about kids going off to adventures. The alien part doesn't really play a big role in the movie, but helps in the development of the main characters. So it's mainly about the kids rather than the alien. It made me miss being a kid.

The Thing (the new one) - It's pretty good, better than what I've read online. And it ties up with the original movie pretty well. Also, the alien looked cool.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I finally saw Dark Knight Rises, and I enjoyed it a lot. There were some hints at the start of the movie regarding the reveal of the main villain at the end, but I missed them. I liked that it still surprised me with the reveal, even though any person who's familiar of the Batman mythos will get it early on.

I also saw Brave. Although it was visually beautiful, I think the story was a bit everywhere and could have fixed it by focusing on the plight of the main character a bit more.

I read that even if I haven't seen Skyfall yet. Now I want to see it.

I saw Paul over the weekend. At first I didn't want to watch it because I read before that it wasn't that good. But it's a Simon Pegg/Nick Frost movie, it's supposed to be good! And I did like it. It's a fun sci-fi comedy, which plays on the same formula that Pegg and Frost has been using in the previous movies. There was some funny jokes, and cute pop culture references. Seth Rogen, who voiced the alien, was ok, but he sounded a bit annoying to me. Everytime I hear his voice I remember Green Hornet. blech.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Saw World War Z. Despite it's corny title, I actually liked the movie. Though it does have fairly common elements of a zombie aftermath movie, I like that the movie stayed away from the usual shots of zombies running after a gun-toting protagonist. The movie had a nice balance of tense scenes and at the same time good story progression. Keeping the history of Brad Pitt's character also helped the viewer focus more on the whole story instead of the character's individual issues. Overall, it's an enjoying movie with a great take on the zombie virus genre.

Hey this thread is back!

I saw two movies recently.

Elysium - I watched this two times! It's that good! Good action + scifi + lotsa cool concept work + good world building + excellent use of a torus space station. I'll watch it again.

World's End - The latest movie from comedy duo Simon Peg/Nick Frost. It actually starts good, with a nice twist, and a twistier ending. Not as good as Hot Fuzz, but still enjoyable.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

Ok, TV time. I've been watching these shows recently.

True Detective - The best show on TV right now. Basically it's a cop drama where two 2 detectives narrate and recall the events leading to the capture of a serial killer in Louisiana. I think this is the best performance by Matthew McConaughey is crazy good on this show and it really changed my opinion of him. And since it's HBO, it's got boobies.

Gravity Falls - Thanks Q! It's a Disney cartoon series about a brother and sister sent to their uncle's hack Mystery Shack in a small town called Gravity Falls. One of them finds a book which documents the weird things in this town, and they basically go into adventures solving and discovering the mysteries. It's really fun you guys!

Man, his performance here and in Dallas Buyers Club is totally different from ALL his previous movies. It's like he's a different actor.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.
