Uninstalling Windows Media Player 11 in Vista

Just got my laptop, I hate Windows Media Player 11. I'd personally rather have WMP 9.

However, I can't find the option of un-installing in the Control Panel and such.

Any help?

I don't think you can, and in all honesty, it's not a good idea. It might come in useful sometime. Just get whatever other program you want and set it as the default for everything and remove WMP shortcuts.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Heh, I prefer WMP9 too and I have one solution:

Uninstall Vista/Reformat HDD*. Install XP. Install SP2. Get latest updates from Windows Updates but make sure NOT to upgrade WMP.

Now you'll have WMP9.

*You probably don't want to do this... >_>

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Yeah, I probably don't. <_<

::sigh:: I was hoping to get rid of it, but if nothing can be done, I'll attempt to live with it.

I'm still open for any other suggestions though.

What's the difference between WMP9 and 10? My XP disc has 10.

I was speaking idiomatically.

I only used WMP10 once and it was a very long time ago. I remember it was buggy or something so I used restore point to get back WMP9 and never upgrade it since.

And my copy of XP has WMP7 and when I install SP2 it upgrade to WMP9. o.O

How ya doing, buddy?

Yeah, I just don't think you can really remove WMP from Windows. It's not like you have to use it though, just set the defaults to another program and you should never see it again.

Meh, it's just that I prefer to use WMP over the others...

Why? It's not like WMP9 is better than other music and/or video players... couldn't you use Media Player Classic anyway? And what's wrong with 11?

Jam it back in, in the dark.
