Dealbreakers

For those who watch NBC's 30 Rock (it's an awesome show), Tina Fey's character Liz Lemon writes a book entitled "Dealbreakers" which got me thinking about the subject. What are dealbreakers for you?

I can't stand picky eaters. Maybe it's because I'm not, but its a pain going on a date with someone who has self-imposed restrictive diet. If they are vegetarian or allergic, thats fine. I respect that. But if they are unwilling to try new food for no good reason, thats a dealbreaker. I love me my filipino, indian, brazillian, japanese, thai, vietnamese food and that doesn't change if I'm dating someone.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I too have a thing for picky eaters. I don't care if she's at least willing to try everything, but I love so many different kinds of food I'd go a bit crazy if someone restricted something so simple as my eating habits.

Also, girls who love gossip. I get really annoyed by girls who get all squeaky over who's dating who, and my god ___ spent so much money on blank, it's an instant turn-off for me.

This. The more a girl talks without actually saying something, the bigger a turnoff it is. I can understand a little bit of meaningless conversation here and there, but if I am actually buying a chick dinner, it is because I am hoping for conversation and thensome.

Yeah, I texted some girl who I had chatted with/had the number of to see if school was closed that day (turns out it was). The response I got wasn't a text back. It was a phone call and a 30min conversation about nothing.

Only thing I remember was something about "Oh, Pokemon is great! Why haven't you played more of it?" cause we were talking about DS games.

Oh, and "If you quit WoW you'd have $15 more a month toward that stuff you want", says the girl who smokes.

So yeah. Pretty much never tell me how to spend my money.

Being a jerk is a dealbreaker.

Most other stuff I can look past and try to see what's good about the person... but if they're a nasty person then I'm not going to bother.

I hate it when my date deliberately talks down to the waiter, or talks trash about people we pass as we're walking around, or has no respect for their parents for no good reason. If they can't be at least polite to the average joe, then I can't trust them to treat me with respect either.

Well, I hae a tendency to find that the biggest dealbreaker are unappreciative people. I tend to go overboard when I am dating a girl. I love to romance girls and give them all I have to give. In return, I better at least get a thank you. But if I don't you are outta there!

Being an expert at failing miserably at relationships, I'm pretty sure that going overboard could lead to not being thanked? Couldn't it be perceived as creepy to have someone "give [all they] have to give"? Maybe they're not thanking you on purpose so you'll be the one to end it.

Eh two things for me, if they don't have a job and they lie with every other breath. Total deal breakers. The last guy I dated expected me to pay for everything and never once offered to pay and I work hard for my money. He also would lie like crazy to me, I'd rather someone be honest with me than tell me stories. So those are my deal breakers:\

Wow, this thread is taking me back...

Dealbreakers for me are:
- smoking
- drinking excessively
- serial rudeness
- pussification
- unemployment (for extended periods of time)
- poor hygiene
- low intellect
- bad teeth or skin

Not in that order. I get really annoyed with picky eaters and mama's boys, but I wouldn't say those are dealbreakers.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

My dealbreakers usually happen in conversation and the conversation usually goes like this:

<"So, what do you like to do in your spare time?"

>"Have you accepted the jesus christ as your lord and savior?"

<"CHECK PLEASE!"

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I haven't been single for so long I don't know what it's like to be picky about who I date.

I suppose the following may turn me away:
- Excessive smoking
- Poor/Bad hygene
- Lack of attention (Hey, if I'm talking to you and you're obviously NOT paying attention, I must not be that worth it to you and nor do you deserve my time/attention)
- Incapability to try new things

Same here Shorty, if there's a major dealbreaker for me that'd be a guy who controls the whole date.

I do not like walking into ambushed via blind date with a guy who chooses the meal/movie/topics. Its horrid and never again. That and my friend has horrid taste in guys lmao.

But yeah seconding Paco's dealbreaker too.

I have a few dealbreakers. I can't date anyone who prefers cats over dogs, I dislike smokers, and I can't date a pessimist. I am already a negative person so the last dealbreaker is the biggest. I need to be built up, not made to feel worse and worse because of you also being in a bad mood.

There aren't a ton of outright deal breakers for me. As has been mentioned picky eating can be very annoying especially if I've spent the time and effort to make a nice full meal with balanced flavors in the different sides that is intended to be taken as a whole, also don't be like 30 minutes late when I'm trying to time such a meal without calling. Still while irritating not an outright deal breaker.

The big one right now is Glen Beck. In informal polls 100% of respondents agree that being a fan of Glen Beck is worse than herpes. This is because at least there is treatment for herpes. Seriously though, if you say you're a real fan of that man... that's pretty much the end right there.

Most other things that aren't super abrasive or outright abusive, I can pretty well compromise on, given the off chance there is some sort of connection present, but even I have my limits.

Other people's knees.
And, ghouls. You know, little green ghouls.

My only dealbreaker is religion. If you're religious at all there is going to be contention. I'd prefer somebody who also doesn't buy into luck, fate, karma, energy, positive vibes ) ) ) ) ) etc... though I know that's more or less unreasonable so I can look past it because if that's the vague definition you apply to arbitrary coincidences I know you don't really believe it anyway.
