Oh and I want that GIANT panasonic touch screen TV! ;__; What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
FELIPE NO The text is part of the image and the two squires aren't exactly even. |
That's a nice TV you got there MetheGelfling.
You know 1080p TVs (or any 1080p large display devices) are not super cheap today, that's for sure, but there are getting cheaper and cheaper every month. Look at that one for example: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1138084694260 IMO, for $2.5K, that's pretty cheap, and for that price it even accepts a 1080p signal on four (4) inputs (1x HDMI, 2x DVI, 1x VGA). Good stuff. Man, you are an American, take advantage! What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
You people would seriously pay over $2000 for a TV?

If you want excellent picture quality, HD capabilities, and an overly large screen like me then it makes sense. There's nowhere I can't reach.

$2000 is definitely an absurd amount of money.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
It depends on your priorities and your situation I guess, I would have never bought a $2K monitor when I was a student for example. Also, one should not get in debt for buying a TV, and parents should not allow their kids to buy deluxe stuff like that while letting them take advantage of free-everything at home... And imagine how PS3 RPGs will have a cinematic feel with a large screen like that; a projector would be more effective though EDIT: About Megalith: that guy is amazing; he never comes out of character, never! I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/pro...=UTF8&n=172282 That monitor's not bad. Whoever posted the link earlier gets the credit, but it looks like it'd do the job pretty well.
Now that I've seen it though, I'm actually considering buying it. How would this work with the PS3? I was speaking idiomatically. Reading -- Bleach, Claymore, Chun Rhang Yhur Jhun, NOW, Zero: Beginning of the Coffin, Black God, Twelve Kingdoms (novels), History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi Watching -- Bleach Playing -- Fable II, Valkyria Chronicles, Guitar Hero: World Tour, Star Ocean: First Departure, LittleBigPlanet, MegaMan 9, Mirror's Edge |

I'd pay only that much money on a high quality LCD computer monitor. Most of the LCDs look better than the LCD TVs and plasmas I've seen. Most likely it'd run the vide through a ATI All in Wonder (for S-Video or Composite), or connect driectly to the monitor with HDMI. Plus I like watching movies on my monitor much more anyways.
Truth be told though, my current S-Video setup for my TV works perfectly for me. Good detail and great colors. The fact that DVDs don't look blocky (like they do on a LCD) makes it even better. How ya doing, buddy? |
www.sega.co.jp, most LCD don't have the contrast ratio seen in a plasma. And you're watching movies using s-video? geeze, your poor eyes. you need to some to my house. see how i roll. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
When I usually play, I play for like 7 hours if I really like the game. Sure, picture is nice but I'll do for the short-end unless that $2,000 will last long. How ya doing, buddy? |
You don't know anything Terminus. Plasma own's your nuts and you're just sad cause you're broke.
"The lifetime of the latest generation of PDPs is estimated at 60,000 hours to half life when displaying video. Half life is the point where the picture has degraded to half of its original brightness, which is considered the end of the functional life of the display. So if you use it at an average of 2-1/2 hours a day, the PDP will last approximately 65 years." so even at your 7 hours a day (what a nerd... you really should get out of the basement sometimes) that's still 23 years of playing time before your tv is spent. I'd hope that in 23 years you might be able so aquire another 2k to buy a new tv. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
For TV sake, here's a site which breaks down between LCD and Plasma.
Here's the Cost Factor found at the last page, of the site:

I've been very impressed with my Samsung LCD 17" monitor I got 2 xmas ago. It's not failed me yet, and quite affordable.

Yeah Samsung LCDs are pretty kick ass. I'm personally gonna wait it out when it comes to HDTVs. Don't get me wrong, I think they look spectacular, but I just don't think the technology's peaked yet and the way HD channels and movies are offered is still far from streamlined. The TVs are slowly but surely getting cheaper and better. Also, there are still a handfull of other HDTV technologies in the works that are suppose to blow plasmas and LCDs outta the water both in terms visuals, longevity, and price-point.
I'm especially curious to see what Sony's gonna unleash since they stopped making plasmas partly to work on a new type of high-def TV. I think the PS3's lifespan will be long enough to warrant some waiting. Oh and anyone else think that Sony might be pushing PS3's price way up in the air with the hype now so that they can actually launch with a semi-acceptable pricepoint like $350 and make it seem cheaper to us in comparison to all the speculation? Oh and speaking of Sony TVs, it's funny how lots of people who like Samsung's loath Sony's even thoguh Samsung creates a lot of the inner parts and workings for Sony's TVs. FELIPE NO |
Why don't you nubs just get a CRT.
The weight is only an issue if you have to carry it to the 2nd floor and you're Asian. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |

My guess is that it'll be something along the lines of the Canon and Toshiba SED. SED will probably become the next standard in display technology once the price is right. SED stands for Surface-Conduction Electron-Emitter Display and there's a lovely wikipedia article on the subject. How ya doing, buddy? |
So just buy two CRTs.
They ain't even expensive. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
I can't say much for Sony products since I think the only thing Sony I have are some CD-Rs and of course my Playstation 2. Most of the other electronics in my house are Panasonic. I have LOTS of Panasonic stuff (lol Microwave).

I would take Sony over Samsung any day of the week.
Samsung products have awful power supplies. I was speaking idiomatically. |

Sony products sucks period. (consoles are fine.) Sony makes shittiest tvs, dvd players, everything but consoles. Korea is pretty ahead of tech comparing Japan. Here if you bother translating.
