Problem to install Windos XP properly
Well, when I access my windows xp via dos or something where it says I can format, install xp, repair etc... the thing is the dos can't see my full spaces on the HDD. My HDD is 500 GB S-ATA2 16MB Cache Harddisk, so instead it shows 126 GB instead of 500 GB plus I am using Tiny XP right now, and I have created 4 partitions before I installed the Tiny XP, but the problem is my Windows XP CD can't recognize the 4 partitons I have created via Tiny XP CD instead it recognize a C:\ 126 GB without I am knowing how it happened, plus the C:\ I am using right now is actually 10 GB only, sorry I sucks to explain though, but I hope you guys udnerstand what I am trying to explain...
Is there anything wrong with the Windows XP CD or do I need to configurate the dos or something? I appreciate if you guys can help me out, since I am going bit crazy lately. Cheers! Jam it back in, in the dark. |
I'm not that sure, but I think the prob is dos. I am pretty sure dos can't acess hdd's that big. Just set your cd rom drive to try to boot before you hdd and install windows that way.
There's nowhere I can't reach. (\__/)(\__/)(\__/) (\__/)(\__/)(\__/)(\__/) (\__/) (='.'=)(='.'=)(='.'=)(='.'=)(='.'=)(='.'=)(='.'=)( ='.'=) (")-(")(")-(")(")-(") (")-(")(")-(")(")-(")(")-(")(")-(") |
Hmmm, actually... I have already done that... and it doesn't help.
Sorry, I suck to explain man, but What I ment by dos is when you boot up the CD-rom after you restarted it and you get the black screen and it says "click on del to access the bios" or something, right? and after that... it says "click on any button to boot up the cd" or something like that, and then after that it's a blue screen and under the screen it's like a biiig long rectangle and shows us USB and lots of stuff the CD is loading or something... after it finished to load it says "click on enter to continue" and you will get a the menu to format or re-install the windows. that is the dos... I think... Anyway, I am using the original Windows XP cd... so perhaps the dos can't access the HDD since the spaces it's to big? so it means I need to download a new Windows XP which it contains service pack 2 or something? Well... I don't have any more empty CD's left at my house, so it would be better if there is any other way to solve the problem. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
You probably have to do some partition reconfiguration.
If you can, I suggest you put that hard disk onto another computer, run DISKMGMT.MSC, and show us the screenshot. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?
