Google Analytics Rocks! - GF Stats

Recently Gamingforce was selected for the Google Analytics beta test. Just by including a small amount of code onto the GF footer, Google has built some pretty cool statistics on the GF website.

Here are some stats:
  • The average user views 10.91 pages per visit.
  • Around 100,000 full pages are served every day.
  • 68% of visitors return to the website.
  • 67.5% reach GF by typing the URL. 20.5% come from Google. 2.5% come from Yahoo
  • 50.11% of visitors are from the United States, 9.93% are from Canada, 6.87% are from the UK, 4.04% are from Germany, 3.12% are from Australia, 2.99% are from the Netherlands, 1.85% are from France, 1.85% are from Japan, 1.12% are from Spain
  • ISP: 11.49% use Comcast, 5.12% use SBC, 4.02% use Verizon, 3.42% use Cox, 3.3% use Road Runner, 2.8% use Charter, 2.2% use Rogers
  • 72.05% use an English browser
  • The most visited forum is the Musician's Library resulting in 1.63% of all Gamingforce pageviews
  • The most loaded single page is ChocoJournal resulting 2.2% of all unique vistior pageviews
  • 37.17% come in through /forums. 8.69% come in through the main GF page
  • 19% of visitors spend at least 30 minutes per visit
  • 50.17% use Firefox, 41.12% use IE, 4.29% use Opera, 2.68% use Safari
  • 95.45% use Windows, 3.7% use Mac, 0.69% use Linux
  • 46.09% use 1024x768, 25.34% use 1280x1024, 6.29% use 800x600
  • 97.82% of visitors have Java enabled
  • 88.9% of visitors are on Broadband
  • 1.29% of vistors are from Los Angeles, the highest single city concentration of visitors. Montreal is the second highest with 0.89% and Houston comes third with 0.84%.

It's probably the wrong time of the year to check, but could you do a listing to see what .edu pages hit us the most? It's always interesting to see that.

(Other than that, pretty neat stats. Surprised with how many people are still using 800x600.)

How ya doing, buddy?

I use 800x600.

Anything higher strains my eyes (17" CRT monitor, 20/20 vision).

I can't see how people use higher resolutions for their desktop (unless they have a big-ass LCD screen).

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Not really surprising, considering GFF's audience. Maybe it's time for some Opera evangelism.

Hmm, there seems to be far less Mac users than I thought. Everything else isn't so surprising, even the Browser stat, considering FireFox really gained a lot of popularity in the past while.

P.S. I don't use any of the resolutions they gave.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Maybe your eyes are just sensitive, or maybe we have better than 20/20 vision. I use 1600x1200 at home on my 19" with no problem. Though I only sit 2 or 3 feet back from the screen on average.

19" what? CRT or LCD?

Like, at my college's computer lab, all the monitors are 19" LCD screens and I don't mind the high resolution.

At home, my 17" CRT monitor doesn't work that way for some reason. Games, yes, bring on the high resolution. Desktop/browsing/word processing, no.

Haha, I have a 21" CRT here and I'm only using 1024x768. Then again I'm pretty far from 20/20 vision...

CRT, but I don't see how it makes a difference. I use a 60 Hz refresh rate.

It's kind of funny because I run most of my graphically-demanding games at 1024x768 in order to get better FPS. But I need my 1600x1200 desktop.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

The desktop resolution statistic was interesting. I didn't expect to see that on the list. But the two leading ISPs seem about right.

Is your refresh rate over 60Hz for your desktop CRT? I know some people are super-sensitive to that, and at higher resolutions your monitor might not support refresh rates over 60Hz (where most people apparently get significant eye strain).

Alternatively, you could try turning up your resoltuion to display webpages correctly, and just turn on features such as Large Icons and increase the default text size for things in Windows.

I actually find a higher resolution to be easier to do word processing with since I can be at a higher zoom while maintaining exactly a page width across my whole monitor. Really useful for when I'm reading .pdfs.

I'm actually surprised at this fact, since I always thought that nobody visits the Musician's Library anyway. ^___^ seems to be pressing F5 all the time.

Oh, and could you perhaps include some more statistics here on Gamingforce itself? This already was under discussion some months ago and I'd really like to see, for example, who are the most active posters in particular forums and so on.
