If you buy the $200 set up, you can get a 32 MB card from EB Games or GameStop for only $10. So ultimately you're still saving a good chunk.

Actually though, if you're not gonna pay $250 for the system, get a refurbished/preplayed one. They're $180 ($190 w/ card) so you end up saving $60 off the value pack.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Firmware 2.7 is out, and includes a Flash plug-in for the browser.

2.7 is also required to download and play the free Loco Roco demo that is out now. The game kicks some serious ass, but I just can't give up my Snes9x, ScummVM and LUA homebrew.

As of now, there is no exploit to enable homebrew on a 2.7 firmware PSP. This is a warning.

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm also tempted to upgrade my PSP for all the fancy features, but I'm not sure I want to give up being able to play NES, SNES, Genesis, etc games.

I haven't really checked the homebrew scene in a while, though. Have they found a way to make SNES games run less choppy? The only games that ran perfect for me were NES ones.

Whatever things are running at right now is probably the best they will end up being for quite some time.

With the latest Snes9x TYL (0.3), I can play almost all games with full speed even on 2.6 firmware via Fanjita's GTA eLoader. I hear it runs even faster on 1.5 with kernel access mode.

2.7 doesn't really bring a lot of useful new features, actually. I hear flash support is very basic (supports only Flash 6, so no fancy animation, games or video) and choppy, the web browser still has annoying memory issues and the podcast features and RSS support was already introduced in the previous firmwares.

Mega frown~my GTA copy arbitrarily decided to stop working, thus eliminating emulation. I keep getting a "disc cannot be read" error which pops up after like 15 minutes of trying to read it. It was working fine two weeks ago but when I decided to play recently, and it magically acquired scratches or something from just sitting the case

Off to rebuy a copy soon :@

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Except that for the same $299 price, you can get a $199 PSP and a $99 2GB memory stick. Unless they changed the Giga Pack price since I last heard of it...

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Normal roms work...a working snes emulator should be on the compatibility list at Fanjita's Place, since those are specially tailored to the PSP.

Is no one happy about Tekken 5: DR hitting the PSP? The game looks like it's shaping up pretty well. Granted, it would be better off on the PS2, but I can't wait for it! Especially, the customization mode. In the arcade (in Japan at least) you needed to pay $3 a month for a Tekken.Net subscription in order to modify your character.

I was speaking idiomatically.

I'm gonna check it out from work and see if it's worth a buy, and if it is then hell yeah. But I wanna try it first. It does look good though, especially for Tekken fans.

Namco, when're you gonna bring Soul Calibur to the PSP? ; ;

Argh, there's going to be a Death Jr. 2 and Coded Arms sequel on PSP... Original IPs or not, these games sucked.

I'm guessing that if Tekken does well enough, it could come. It'd be nice with Wi-Fi!

So was there any PSP-specific E3 news other than MGS Portable Ops?

We already knew about the forthcoming PS1 emulator, so what was the big news for PSP owners?

Big news? Didn't you hear about Brooktown High: Senior Year. Huge. I want it, at least.

According to Gamespot, Tekken 5: DR on PSP looks pretty close to the PS2 Tekken 5, which was pretty damn good.

Also, Vice City Stories was announced, if you're a GTA fan.

Ugh, dear LORD did you see those screens?

Here I was hoping it would be some localized version of Tokimeki Memorial or something like that, but instead it's some 3D ugly-ass Western trash.

I'd probably have more fun playing a flash-based dating sim over at Newgrounds than this. Even Sprung for the DS had more appealing graphics.

Ugh, im so tempted to upgrade to 2.7 for the Loco Roco demo, I never really used anything homebrew (dont really care for roms etc).

EDIT: Does anyone know a *GOOD* place for psp wallpapers? I find majority of sites with them aren't very good. (I dont want cars or half naked whores for a wallpaper).

FELIPE NO

Well.. there is Legend of Heroes 2 that should be coming out sometime in June. Im currently playing the first one. While the beginning was a little too dragged on, I started to enjoy it alot. Lots of dialogue. The battle system is original, the pet system is i have no clue wtf it is but just feeding the damn thing over and over, The story is interesting though. To me, its not a bad game. Its decent and im sure part 2 will be much better. If not, then i'll just call it decent again. Tales of Eternia still wins as best psp rpg. Didn't get it yet though.. >.<

EDIT:

@ Tokubetsu : you can always make your own... But if you want to look for some, go to psp-hacks

Which games do you have?

I reckon GTA, Wipeout, Burnout, Lumines, Worms and BoF3 are all worth having.

It's not "part 2"

The Legend of Heroes II: Prophecy of the Moonlight Witch is actually the third game, Eiyuu Densetsu Gagharv Trilogy III: Shiroki Majo, while The Legend of Heroes: A Tear of Vermillion is actually the fourth game, Eiyuu Densetsu Gagharv Trilogy IV: Akai Shizuku.

While that may seem like a sequel due to the release order, it's not in chronological order. The actual order would be Legend of Heroes IV: A Tear of Vermillion, Legend of Heroes V: A Cagesong of the Ocean, and then Legend of Heroes III: The White Witch. If anything, it's a sequel to A Cagesong of the Ocean.

They are however in the same world and timeline, since you can see characters from the previous game in the timeline in some of the incarnations of the series. I'm only going with information I can get in english, since I can't read japanese.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

somehow.. i knew that already ^^;. But i did hear about a legend of heroes V back then. Didn't play it and thought it was a little so so til i played Tear of Vermillion. I hope all of them make it to psp. They are worth having.

Since games like this are coming out..Atlus (or red company) should make a new Thousand Arms game, the dating system was interesting
