Lost Magic (DS)

Lost Magic is an RPG for the DS with WiFi functionality.

"Lost Magic, the first online RPG for the Nintendo DS, now has its own gaming hub on Nintendo's official wifi connection site. The title which will be released on March 20 will allow you to "create new characters and challenge friends" over the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. This is very exciting news for both DS and RPG fans"

To cast magic in this game, you input characters (runes) using the stylus. There's six types of elements and over 300 different rune combos.

Another game which will steal my monies.

PS: Who here would buy/play this online?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I might consider getting this game. I need a good RPG in my DS library. I mean, come on, over 300 combos? That enough should be worthwhile.

Has anyone seen the short video?

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Yeah, I've seen it. It looks hella fun.

I was going to link to it, except I can't find a direct link to a copy of it. Only IGN (or other lame stuff like that) related videos.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I'll buy it and play online if by the time I'm not deep in a financial hole, it hasn't pulled a Phoenix Wright and become $5982739457 to buy a copy. Even then, I still might.

I'm considering it. I need a good RPG also. The DS seems to lack a good amount of them.

I'm considering getting this game, since I've also been craving a good RPG for my DS, and this is the best looking one that's coming out soon. I just want to know if you'll be able to do any of the multiplayer stuff without being online. I hope to be able to get online soon, but if I can't I would still want to be able to play this game with my sister.

Is she hot?

This is one of the few (localized) DS RPGs... It's a shame Wizardry: Asterisk never made it here.

To be honest, I don't think you can play wireless multiplayer, only WiFi. If you do get online, rest assured, I'll be playing with your sister.

To tell you the truth, she really isn't. If she wasn't my sister, I still wouldn't get with her or anything (well, not for her looks anyway).

And that sucks about the multiplayer. If that was the case I'd probably get the game sooner, but since it's not I'll probably wait.

This looks sweet. I'm excited. I think I posted this somewhere before, but casting spells with the stylus is an ULTRA-obvious function of the DS.

But the rest of the game looks pretty exciting too, graphics style and such. I'm not sure if the online thing really appeals to me, I've never been a huge MMORPG player, but I'm definitely keeping my eye on this game.

Is it just me, or does the game look similar to Tao's Adventure? I swear, we have to get out of this "mid-evil" era. Anyway, as long as the game is good, I don't mind. Yeah, I'm a hypocrite.

IGN put up a preview today, and they did say you can play multiplayer locally.

This is some good news, and is definitely pushing me into getting the game (though probably not any time soon).

I need to stop coming here. I always hear about new games that really catch my eye, and guess how much money i have. yeah, not enough. Come summer i should have a steady source of more money (i.e. a job) so i'll just be a little late.

I deffinetly would play this online. I want, I want.

This is fantastic news. Such a cooperative game like this will boost up to great extents Nintendo's WiFi service. I look forward to sampling this forthcoming delicacy in its full online glory.

By the way, nice way of adopting the stylus function. That "rune combo" feature is nifty - and it's no doubt appropriate to the game's genre.

My little brother picked this game up, and I have been playing since. [Only during times he is a sleep or not home.] I must say, the game is amazing, a new style for my taste. Since it is like RTS + RPG it is able to keep my interest up, and hoping to Wi-Fi soon. [The spells are annoying.]

Are we sure it's a co-op game? I think online mode is actually just a versus battle mode..

My sister has been playing this game, and she says that the multiplayer is versus only. Hell, if it did have co-op, I probably would have got the game as well. But after playing the demo, I'm on the fence about getting it at all, but even if I do, I'll probably wait to get it on the cheap.

I bought it on release. It's pretty challenging and easy to die as RPGs go. You need to be good at drawing runes fast and managing your monsters well. The main challenge though comes from the fact the levels have time limits.

During the game you get to choose a good/evil path each of which has a different ending.

After the game you can save onto a new file and your stats are kept. The enemies are also harder.

(And yes it has a left/right handed toggle.)

Yeah, I have it. In one of the stages where you recieve the Wind Rune, I keep getting killed, I can't get past that part. Urgh.

Still, it's overall good.

When you get more spells, the game gets REALLY good. It's also quite challenging, and at times, a bit unfair. The DS also has a wierd way of detecting how accurate the rune is drawn. Overall though, the game is great, and is very much worth the purchase IMO.
