Bryan Singer interested in Batman vs Superman

Singer Interested in Batman vs. Superman?
Source: MTV July 6, 2006

Superman Returns director Bryan Singer told MTV that he would consider directing a Batman vs. Superman movie, but only after the Man of Steel establishes his identity more thoroughly.

"I've thought about it for a long time — even a longer time ago, actually," the director revealed. "But I don't know who would be the villain. I guess Batman would be the villain, but then he can't be too bad, because he is Batman. So not quite yet. ... I think Superman needs to have his own movies for a little while before that happens." Either way, Singer insisted that "everybody's excited to do more ... and I'm sure we'll do another one."

You can read the full article, with more comments from Brandon Routh, at the link above.
I think Singer would do a great job with a Batman/Superman movie... but Batman being a bad guy? I don't think so. They should work together against the Joker and Lex Luthor.

or they should fight a group (or a duo at least) but since Batman is rather....human it will probably consist b-man flying on Superman's for half of the movie after his plane gets fucked up.

Classic "vs" comic plot.

Hero A meets Hero B. They disagree. The fight. Witty banter. Villian C shows up. Kicks both their asses. Hero A and Hero B put aside differences, defeat Villian C and gain a mutual understanding of each other. Form Partnership D.

I would be shocked, shocked, if it is indeed made (which is another big "if". Routh has gone on record saying that he does not want a movie in which Batman/Superman are adversaries) that they are actually fighting. It will more likely be a Batman/Superman than a Batman vs Superman.

it's a well known fact that Batman would kick his boy-scout ass

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I would like Bryan Singer to do something else than movies containing capes and pantyhoses. Usual Suspects and Apt Pupil were some pretty interesting movies (usual Suspects rocked the thriller genre), but specializing himself into that recent hype is kind of a talent waste. While I still like X-Men (and maybe Superman later, who knows), I keep hope for a change of direction and movie genre for this talented director.

I think Singer is a fool to even think about it...

Why the hell we would ever need a Batman vs Superman movie??

After a few Batman and Superman movies, they should do "The Dark Knight Returns' storyline. Such a great 'Batman VS Superman' story!

It actually would've been decent if Paul Anderson didn't piss all over the time line of Alien and Predator and maybe take on a comic series.

Batman vs. Superman? Nah...How about Superman and he gets killed by Doomsday. That would be awesome.

I'm just waiting for these superhero movies to acknowledge other superheroes in the world. They hardly ever mention the hundreds of thousands of other superpowered people anymore.

Superman is turned by the red kryptonite. The only one that can stop him: Batman with the green kryptonite...buff, we have already seen that..
An adaptation of the death of Superman or Kingdom Come would be great though...

Usually because other characters are mixed up with other production companies. Notice how Daredevil never metions Spider-Man even though Joey Pants's character (originally) works for the Daily Bugle?

Superman Returns mentioned Gotham in a report on where Supeman had been sighted. Perry White also tells Jimmy to get those pictures from that "clown massacre". There is only one killer clown that I can think of in the DC Universe.

Except for the fact that Doomsday fucking sucks. The only prupose of the character was to kill Superman. No characterization, no facial expressions, no dialogue. Nothing whatsoever beyond killing Superman. A MacGuffin doesn't make a comic book plot, much less a movie's.

Superman vs Batman? I'd like to see it happen, but I'm not especially hyped that Singer might be involved. I thought the first 2 X-men movies were decent, and that Superman Returns was pretty good, but pulling off Batman vs Superman in a classy way is out of his league. I just don't think that his character dev is good enough. Also, if they keep the current actors for the characters, Routh is going to appear way too wooden next to Bale.

Other directors that I think could do it better include, Sam Raimi and... Peter Jackson. I'd like to see Jackson take on some comic intellectual property. Raimi's done a great job thus far on the Spidey flicks, and Jackson can make old ladies cry for a giant CG gorilla.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Oh, well, shit - Batman/Superman was in the same production purgatory as Freddy/Jason. I remember hearing rumors about both of them when I was in 5th grade (1991)

As long as Paul Anderson isn't part of the credits, I am happy. I am not too happy with Singer either. I just wish they made a good and dark comic book movie like what Nolan did to Batman Begins.

Batman vs. Superman eh? No wouldn't work. Pure fan cash milking is all it'd come to in the end.

Yet sadly, and tell me the truth: You'd all go to still see it whether it sucked or not, right? Don't lie.

And that, friends, is why it will almost certainly have to be made!

Damn commercialism.

I think we need at least a sequel from both franchises first, to make it seem like there's a deep enough story to warrant a team-up.

Pretty decent idea, but only if it's on an epic "Batman has Superman trumped" scale, which could potentially change the probability of further sequels for both franchises. I can't wait to have to justify Batman not calling Superman to handle his problems in future films.

The problem with such a prospect is that neither side could win. If Superman won, people would complain. If Batman won, people could complain. There has to be a villain. Either it's a villain that mind controls one into fighting the other somehow or it's a villain that has a plan that would require at least two heroes to stop.

i,for one, second this opinion. i'd love to see "The Dark Knight Returns" storyline, preferably done with Nolan as director; I really like the way "Batman Begins" was done.

but it'd probably be 10 years later after the franchise has been shot to hell.
