[PS3] PlayStation 3 Discussion Thread

Can someone summarize what happened.

I am busy watching Cellular.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

The new controller is just a Dual Shock 2 with L2/R2 as triggers as well as wireless capability. It has 4 labeled lights on top indicating which player you are, as well as a USB plug so you can connect to the PS3 (for charging maybe?).

Conference has been boring as shit, though. The reactions from GAF are hilarious.

- Wireless Dual Shock 3 with L2/R2 triggers and USB
- Black is default color for PS3, available at launch
- Console is literally covered in vents
- HDD comes standard with every machine, no "core", removable

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I'm sold. Heavenly Sword, Tekken 6, Virtua Fighter 5, GUNDAM..yeah Sony has my money this fall.

Well. Onto afterthoughts.

Pretty much what I expected.

High-end PC graphics (and a bit better generally speaking).
Check.

Same gameplay stuff (not boring, just not "wow").
Check.

Gimmicky stuff (Eyetoy specifically, also PSP "rearview mirror", and in-game store to rape my VISA card).
Check.

Support from all the big money-makers/franchises (EA, SqEnix, Kojima, etc.)
Check.

VERY high price ($500 minimum).
Check.


Surprises? Obviously the tilt controller gimmick/ripoff/tacked-on/half-assed thing.

Does that sum it up?!

I like how these dumbass corporations have to pull this bullshit over on its customers to make up for having to build consoles that cost more than they can reasonably be sold for, all because they make these ridiculous promises about what the console will feature. Well hello there $100 for a 20 gig SATA hard drive for the xbox circle. Oh hi $100 to add 40 gigs of space for your PS3. I'd rather have less spectacular visuals than have Sony and Microsoft have to screw me over with peripherals all because of poor planning on their consoles.

I've already gotten insider information from a friend who works high up in Sony Playstation development team. He tells me that when ps4 comes out, it will cost $10,000 because you have to buy a 1992 honda civic with it in order to play it. Nevermind that a 92 civic costs like $1000.

hah, I knew they were gunna release the PS3 in two versions, seems like they pulled a 360... bastards. $100 dollars for 40gigs more, an HDMI output, memory slots, and a bucket full of bullshit. and this is american dollars were talking about, the high end ps3 is gunna be over $700 canadian. game over sony.
