Your Favorite Emulator for...
What is your favorite emulator for different platforms? I'm interested to see what the best is out there, I've tried a few, but not all. Also, where do you go to get your emulators and roms? I personally use xdcc packetnews.com and get it over IRC.
My favorite for N64 is Project 64. It's the only N64 emulator I've found that doesn't have an immense amount of problems. NESticle is a good emulator... but I find the icon a little vulgar. ZSNES was my favorite for SNES last time I used it, but that was years ago. Has anything better come out? Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Don't we already have a thread like this?
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
I'm fairly certain I saw a thread recently like this >_>
NES: (Nesticle? Can't remember) SNES: ZSNES Saturn: SSF PS1: ePSXe or PSXeven Genesis: Quite a medley of emulators to be honest... KGEN or KEGA probably above all else? I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?
Hey, maybe you should try that thing Chie was talking about.

k then, my list
NES: dunno, dont care, last time I checked FCE Ultra had the best sound for Mappy. SNES: ZSNES Megadrive/Mega CD/32x: Kega Fusion, nothing else compares. Saturn: SSF, what else Dreamcast: Nulldc once they fix the alphablending issue and hook up joypads. GBA: Visualboyadvance N64: all of them suck ass I was speaking idiomatically. |
NES: Used to be a big fan of Jnes, but FCE Ultra didn't make Classic Concentration look crappy so now I'm on that.
SNES: ZSNES Genesis/Sega CD/32x: Gens, it rocks. Saturn: Still trying to get one to work, but SSF has come closest. GBA: VisualBoyAdvance. N64: Project 64, best N64 emulator ever. PS1: ePSXe PSP: UMDemulator on the PSP. Arcade: MAME. TI-99 4A: Win994a Master System: MEKA, just because I wanted to try out the Rocky game after seeing AVGN's review of it. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Anyway, I use: NES: Whatever. I have no emulator preference; I usually google around until I find something that looks decent, as I continually forget the emulator I used the last time I played an NES ROM. SNES: ZSNES Saturn: :SSFrules: PSX: ePSXe GBA: Virtualboyadvance N64: I use PJ64, but I don't play N64 ROMs much at all, particularly due to the fact that I own most of the N64 games that I'd ever want to play. arcade: MAME
gb/c: bgb (I prefer it to VBA; less scratchy sound. No cool filters tho...) gba: none, I have a flashcard so I don't need it. genesis/sega CD: gens32 surreal / kega fusion (processor heavy with the hqx filters) Master System: MEKA (only bothered really for ys) n64: Project64 neo-geo: winkawaks w/ hacked loader nes: nestopia (hqx filters and asquire's 'realityc' palette mapper ftw) pc-engine: magicengine (is there even anything else that works right?) psx: epsxe / psxfin (depends on the games -- 2d i use psxfin / 3d epsxe) saturn: SSF snes: zsnes (ipher's wips mostly since the official build barely changes) Yup. I love my emulation. I try to use emulators which are still actually being updated. I'm amazed people still use stuff like nesticle... that hasn't been touched in years. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
GB/GBC/GBA: VisualBoyAdvance
NES: FCE Ultra (best I've encountered for Windows) SNES: ZSNES (ipher's wip builds) sucks ass they took out NetPlay N64: Project64 works beautifully with the 6 good games for that system o_O PSX: ePSXe (great with all the games I have except Chrono Trigger) PS2: PCSX2 (very experimental, but the next release will allow FFX and X-2 to be played without graphic corruption, still runs 60+FPS on my system) I'd like to try a recent build of a Gamecube emulator. I don't have any ISOs for that system anymore. Super Mario Sunshine ran like ass on my Athlon 3200+ a couple years ago. :/ Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Third to
NES: NesterJ - Small and compact. Not much frills SNES: ZSNES - I remember SNES9x and didn't like it because I had to turn off a layer for a certain part in Final Fantasy V, but didn't know that. No layer switching needed in ZSNES for the most part so I've used it for a long time. Neo Geo: Neorage - I don't care that this is blatantly outdated, it's simple to use with not too many frills to distract me. >=P Arcade: MAME? - I'm stumped here and am looking for a good one that supports Kaillera. My friends have switched emus to support online play so much that I don't know what's the best one anymore. PSX: ePSXe - The only one I know of. How ya doing, buddy? |
SNES: ZSnes
Arcade: Mame32 PSX: ePSXe N64: Project64 GBA: VisualBoyAdvance Genesis: Fusion Sup. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
SNES9x, hands down. It works well with Emulator Enhancer, is highly configurable and plays like a charm with utmost realism to the Snes engine.
