How did a remix of Daddy Mulk get through?

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.
Check out my original music at my Soundcloud page!

Latest music rips (updated January 10, 2012):

SimCity DS - Jazz/ambient/electronic music including interesting reworkings of songs from the fantastic SimCity 3000 soundtrack
Cold Winter Original Game Music Score - Really cool; dark, full, emotional strings mixed with drums, piano, choir. Kind of like Furious Angels?

A rather impressive week. No song totally blew me away, but there's impressive quality at the top, and not a single song that I disliked. Big ups to all the nominators.

Alphabet Planet - Vivid
Has some nice melody, I don't find it particularly catchy though.

GRID (Game Rip) - Vintage Warmer
Normally, quiet songs aren't for me that much, but for some reason, this one really clicks. It's a little repetitive and doesn't have any complex melodies, but it's a great and relaxing experience.

In the wake of Doshin, the GIANT - Yellow Giant
Guitar is pretty cool, the lead instrument turned me off a little bit though.

King's Bounty: The Legend (Game Rip) - Under the Shadow of an Oak (Studio version)
Melody is nice, although I don't like it enough to have it make up for the absence of rhythm. I'm not really into vocals either.

Majin Tensei II Spiral Nemesis - Evolution
Pretty catchy melody, nothing exceptional though.

Revive - Space Deliria 2000
Bjørn Lynne at his best. Catchy melody, great rhythm and nice variety. The voices are a little weird but whatever.

Tre donne crudeli NITROPLUS MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK - Bounty Hunting
The instrumentation on this one isn't really for me.

Z-REPLICA Vol.1 DADDY MULK THE NINJA WARRIORS - DADDY MULK
The pace of this one is crazy. I don't dig the melody though.

3 Points: GRID (Game Rip) - Vintage Warmer
2 Points: Revive - Space Deliria 2000
1 Point: Majin Tensei II Spiral Nemesis - Evolution

On another note, I'm planning on taking part in the SOTW votings regularly from now on, and I'm going to surf the songs in Audiosurf, so if anyone is looking for some competition, here I am.

If you've never heard of Audiosurf, go buy it. It's only 10$, and it's awesome.

Contrary to most, I actually prefer the sickly sweet side of Alphabet Planet to the more sophisticated fusion side. They're both good, however, and Alphabet Planet - Vivid is definitely one of the best tracks from the album. It's got some wonderfully creative melodies and developments, and the entire piece is just so much fun to listen to.

GRID (Game Rip) - Vintage Warmer is very nice. It contains enough rhythmical intrigue, so the atmospheric elements don't bore or irk in the slightest. Just a wonderful, soothing and above all captivating listen.

In the wake of Doshin, the GIANT - Yellow Giant is a...unique track. Can't say I really like any of the instruments or the way they go about delivering their melodies, but then again I wouldn't really call this track bad per se. Confusing, but not exactly frustrating.

King's Bounty: The Legend (Game Rip) - Under the Shadow of an Oak (Studio version) was pleasant without breaking into any new territory. The vocals and tranquil orchestral accompaniment create a simple, poignant melody and the progression of the piece is elegant without becoming overbearing (a fault of many emotional orchestral tracks in my eyes). Nice.

Majin Tensei II Spiral Nemesis - Evolution was annoying. Sorry nom, can't find any positive traits with this one.

I have a good success rate with Lynne's music, and Revive - Space Deliria 2000 follows this rule. Nothing outstanding, but I was relatively entertained from start to finish, which is no mean feat for a track nearing 8 minutes in duration. Some great synths and guitars, and a satisfying sense of maturation as the track progresses. 5:30 or thereabouts is the best part IMO~

Huge <3 for ZIZZ. Tre donne crudeli NITROPLUS MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK - Bounty Hunting is a simple, well-done Spaghetti Western VGM track. It has the characteristic charm of some of Naruke's better pieces, and the whistling melody is spot on. The mid section adds a nice sense of depth and gives a great contrast with the whistling bookends or the track. Overall, this is just a track which I thoroughly enjoy without it being a masterpiece or musical marvel.

Huh, it's Mulk. Z-REPLICA Vol.1 DADDY MULK THE NINJA WARRIORS - DADDY MULK honestly doesn't do anything for me. It sounds too much like it's trying to impress me---none of the singular elements in this intrigue me and they all just coalesce into one big jumbled oddball of a track.

what an oddball of a POINT----*whistles*

Here are my votes:

(2 points) Z-REPLICA Vol.1 DADDY MULK THE NINJA WARRIORS - DADDY MULK
I remember the original was incredible and while I prefer the source material and the live version, this remix is still good, too.

(2 points) Revive - Space Deliria 2000
I wanted to give this more points, that is until I heard Daddy Mulk. Space Deliria develops very nicely and the electronic work is really neat.

(1 point) King's Bounty - The Legend (Game Rip) - Under the Shadow of an Oak (Studio version)
I really like the laid back and quaint quality of this piece. Beautiful, contemplative melody and great instrumentation, too.

(1 point) Alphabet Planet - Vivid
After more listens, I think this track should a get a point for its bouncy melody. That and it moves along well.

Special mentions to GRID. I was very tempted to give it points but unfortunately it doesn't develop as much as I would have liked.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Just a note. I changed my point spread.

There seems to be a problem with the Majin Tensei track when streamed, as it sounds very staticy and annoying. I recommend you download the track instead.

Gonna paste in votes and comments in just a sec.

Additional Spam:
Alphabet Planet - Vivid Kikuta's always good in a pinch, and this is one of the best Alphabet Planet tunes he cooked up.

GRID (Game Rip) - Vintage Warmer Pleasant ambient electronics, but could have used more variety.

In the wake of Doshin, the GIANT - Yellow Giant Sort of like off-key supermarket music.

King's Bounty: The Legend (Game Rip) - Under the Shadow of an Oak (Studio version) Low-key field music, but very pretty in a Jeremy Soule-ish way.

Majin Tensei II Spiral Nemesis - Evolution Too long and not really distinctive.

Revive - Space Deliria 2000 Not impressive at first but got better as it went along and ended up quite good; still should have ditched the SFX and vocals.

Tre donne crudeli NITROPLUS MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK - Bounty Hunting Sub-par Morricone pastiche.

Z-REPLICA Vol.1 DADDY MULK THE NINJA WARRIORS - DADDY MULK Pretty dull retread of an old standard.

Alphabet Planet - 3 pts.
King's Field - 2 pts.
GRID - 1 pts.
Revive - just missed

Game: Super Adventure Island
Artist: Yuzo Koshiro

Nice week, although there were no clear favorites for me no matter how many times I've listened to the songs.

1 point: Alphabet Planet - Vivid
1 point: GRID (Game Rip) - Vintage Warmer
1 point: In the wake of Doshin, the GIANT - Yellow Giant
1 point: King's Bounty: The Legend (Game Rip) - Under the Shadow of an Oak (Studio version)
1 point: Revive - Space Deliria 2000
1 point: Tre donne crudeli NITROPLUS MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK - Bounty Hunting

I'd give the other 2 tracks a point also if I could. Sorry for being late.

WHAT HAVE THEY DONE: DADDY MULK

There's a massive divide between the top 4 and bottom 4 this week.

Also, between the track this week and the Bardo Island track a while back, apparently the Doshin the GIANT soundtrack is both well crafted composition wise, and completely insane instrument wise, and I want it.

Space Deliria 2000 was just so cool, though. Everything I've heard from Bjorn Lynne I've heard only in other contests, but it's all been top notch. And the GRID soundtrack most likely rules too, racing game music is rarely bad. And Vivid reminds me of YACK a little bit, god these 4 tracks rule so hard, a shame they almost got counterbalanced by those other 4 tunes.

My next nomination:

Artist: Lil'B
Original Composer: OGR
Album: Arkanoid DS Audio Planet
Track: REVENGE OF ARKANOID -Complete Mix-
Track #: 26
Year: 2007
Catalog #: SRIN-1036
Source: SRIN-1036: Arkanoid DS Audio Planet - VGMdb
Additional info: I actually uploaded this to the FTP before posting this! Of course it doesn't really balance out the fact that this is a super late post but still, my forethought is something to be marveled at.
