router problem (I think)

ok where to start... firt my router is a linksys WRT54g v5

today while I was surfing on the net I notice a little warning saying that another computer (or something) was in conflict with having the same Ip address as my computer... so since the only other thing that could be connected to this router at that time was my father computer I decided to check it out. What I found is that everything was normal on his computer so I noted the ip address which finish by 104 like it use to be and when I return to my computer I found out that my computer is 104 too.

What the? I clearly remember that my Ip address was 102 before and always was... so all I did was change the Ip adress of the other computer and everything was alright...

but then I decided to check my ps3 setting and change the ip adress to another number just in case, so I do a ipconfig /all on my computer to enter all the setting I need for my ps3 to be online. It doesn't work... now I get a dns error... so I check if I did something wrong and no I did enter the good number in everything.

so to be sure if it's not my ps3 or my router that have a problem I decided to try my psp and everything seem find with it. So I decided to check the setting of my psp to check what I did wrong and that's when I notice that the dns server is not the same as the one my computer is showing me...

I try those dns server setting on my ps3 and now it's working

but why is my computer not showing me the good dns server like it use to do before? and why suddenly my ip address decided to change?

and I have another problem now... every time I turn on my ps3 and that it sign in automatically, my router seem to shutdown for a few sec and for that time none my computer nor my ps3 internet is responding and after that everything is fine... it's just annoying because I have to sign in 2 time on my ps3 so that my friend list fully load and that my router don't "shutdown". it seem to only do that when I turn on my ps3 , when it automatically sign me in but when my ps3 is on I can sign in and out without any problem...

so what could suddenly cause those problem? is my router getting bad and I need to change it or something?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

A suggestion would be to set your home computers with a static IP. They should need to be dynamically set since those computers probably aren't going anywhere. (ie: 192.168.1.2 for your comp, 192.168.1.3 for your dads, etc)

Things that do re/disconnect from your network (like a laptop or your PS3) should be given a range of IPs to work with. (192.168.1.100 and up.)

That should alleviate the IP issues.

Try releasing and renewing the network settings on your router within the web interface for the DNS stuff.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

yes i have a static ip, that's why I don't understand why it suddenly changed.

and the only problem I have now is with my ps3, every time my ps3 tries to connect to the internet my router shutdown for a few sec and I have to try 2 or 3 time to connect with my ps3 before it work.

(note my ps3 is connect via wire not wireless)

Additional Spam:
ok I found the problem, it's not the router well kind of, it's just a problem with the new 1.80 firmware of the ps3 that cause some conflict with linksys router... I'll just wait for a fix then

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.
