I've been liking the game thus far aswell. I'm approx half way according to the strategy guide and though it is a generic JRPG, it's still done well. The voice acting is a bit harsh from time to time but after playing Magna Carta and Tales of Symphonia isn't all that bad either. (and the Japanese VA isn't any better either). The battle system does get the job done, but isn't all that intense. However it is an improvement on the same version of battle system that Rhapsody by NIS had on the PS1. The problem with Rhapsody was that the moves wern't taylored to the battle engine, which this game has definatly solved. Also it's a godsend that you can't hit your own characters (the pet peeve of SRPGs). Overall it's not going to recruit new fans of the genre, but it's a pleasing piece for current fans, but if you have a PS2 I reccomend you picking up Disgaea 2 first though.
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
I really didnt mind Makoto when I first started the game, but hes quickly wearing thin.
At first he was kinda funny, and a change of pace from your averge RPG lineup. Now hes just a droning queen. How ya doing, buddy? |
The live really feels incredibly slapped-on at the last minute. The casino does, too, both of them are filled with really weird menu decisions and an abundance of typos. Definitely low on their priority list.
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Is it true you can reach level 1000 in this game? My friend said hes been playing about 13 hours and is only lvl 15. So to me, this is insane.

I think the game seems to progress somewhat quickly for a 40-50+hour game. I'm already around 40% and it really doesn't feel like I've been playing too long! Whenever I meet an enemy or boss I can't beat, I simply spend some time leveling and upgrading characters/golems and I seem to make it through anything the game has to throw at me. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? Observant Provisions | [adult swim] "Dude, this is gonna.. Man, this is gonna wicked, like, really hurt." |
Heh... When I got around the forest area and things started one-shotting me, I began to hate this game. Then, by complete accident, I found where you can raise your characters' stats and I like it again. It's still pretty mediocre though.
Atsuma is a raging moron. Atsuma: "Oh shit dead end." Toya: "Look it is a ladder. Press A." Atsuma: "Of course! I already knew that!" Makoto: "But you just said... Whatever, I'm gay." *fellates Toya* The voice acting is downright terrible. Atsuma must've switched pronunciations when saying Makoto's name at least 7 times. And don't get me started on Yuki. I think the worst part of all of it is the music. Especially the battle theme. It's so ear-piercingly bad that I ended up turning off all the music altogether. I'm glad I only rented this game.
