Winter 2008: What are people here watching.
Out of a need to resume a tradition started so long ago involving Blah, Mr. VacBob, and the ADTRW subforum at SA, I'd like to ask what people here will be watching for Winter 2008.
On the flip side, I shudder to think at what a new season of Minami-ke will bring. I'm not sure if it can be as hilarious as the original, so I might be treating that the way I'm treating Shana 2 at the moment, that is, cautiously. It doesn't help that the director of Shuffle! Memories is behind this incarnation so my hopes are already low as is. But who knows, it may end up being a pleasant surprise. What about the rest of you? Most amazing jew boots |
On a serious note, looking forward to seeing whether the second iteration of Minami-ke will be either EPIC WIN or EPIC FAIL. Betting on the second. Other than that, uhhh, Gunslinger Girl is always nice, I'll give Spice and Wolf a look just to see what the fuck that is (I've read about it but seriously, what the fuck) and oh, baseball? Yeah, that's a keeper. (Alright not really but I'm interested in knowing why there needs to be another baseball anime.) Additional: They're still making PreCures? God damn. I watched the first because it was pretty funny, but you only stretch that genre so far before it becomes repetitive. There's nowhere I can't reach. #654: Braixen |
As another year offers nothing much, I'll be sticking with Gunslinger Girl 2 since I bought season 1's set this month (to recall good ol times ;p) and I'm interested to see how Kou Otani (Gundam Wing music composer) does in season 2 (Toshihiko-san didn't work on it =/...) . Hitman Reborn animation will probably undergo a huge transformation afterwards from what I heard if anyone reads the manga other than myself. If I was anyone, I'd start reading/watching the manga/anime ASAP. I'm not really interested in anything else except maybe Real Drive which is done by Shirow.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

The only series I absolutely must watch is ARIA the Origination, since it's likely to be the final season for that series. Wolf and Spice and Gunslinger Girl will probably also be on my viewing list, as well as maybe Mai Otome to see if they make another glorious plotwreck.

Wolf and Spice, ARIA, Persona, and Minami-ke are the ones I'm looking forward to. Zetsubou 2 would be good if a reliable group were subbing it. I like how I'm now working on this series.
I already watched the first episode of Ayakashi and I was speaking idiomatically.

H2O ~footprints in the sand~ is a hgame and from what I've read about it, it has an interesting premise (the protagonist is supposed to be half-blind). Not sure if that's going to carry over into the adaptation though.
ARIA for sure. I've already lost all hope for Ah! My Goddess adaptations, screw you AIC. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Still, it's not like I won't check anything else out though. Minami-ke was good, so hopefully the re-telling doesn't suck. H2O does have an interesting premise, and might be something I stick with. Aside from that, Persona looks good from screens, so I'm hoping for something good (or half decent), and although I haven't seen Gunslinger Girl (yeah, sorry), I'll probably start that up and then watch into the new one. FELIPE NO |
Ah My Goddess, Macross Frontier, Persona.
They're all continuations of things that I've already been watching. I'm not exactly losing interest in anime, but I don't want to add too many new things. I've got a huge backlog of titles I can watch any old time I feel in the mood. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
I really want to watch anime again since I haven't in so long, but nothing on that list seems all that interesting other than Kara no Kyoukai. I really enjoyed Tsukihime, so I'll definitely check that out. Dazzle looks like it might be fun to watch as well.
I'll probably just look into shows that have come out in the past few years and try to find something decent. Most amazing jew boots |
AMG Season 3: Fuck yeah. Otherwise, all I'm looking forward to is Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei. Perhaps its a year to catch up on gaming from 2007. :\
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Can't really figure out what Masked Maid Guy is but...it did catch my interest.
Like everyone else, I am definitely hyped for Sayonara Zetsubou sensei (only wish it had more interest by subbing groups) Most amazing jew boots |
Hmm I dunno really, I haven't looked into that many new series, however one that's already started that I definitely will be watching is H20 ~footprints in the sand~, and I advise you guys to do the same.
I saw the first episode of it yesterday and it was really really really really good. There are some real great and interesting characters in this one and I can't say I've seen a story like this before. It was quite interesting to see how the blind main character experienced the world and it gave me some insight on how grateful we should be for the ability of sight. It was definitely not what I had expected, but it was not a bad surprise. It's not as cuddly-coo as it'd seem on the screenshots, with a girl getting beat up real badly in the beginning of the first episode. It was really a good mix of everything (comedy/romance?/drama/mystery/etc), seems like this series has a lot of drama to come, which I totally love. All these anime series based on h games for the most part seems to have great stories (KGNE, Fate/stay night, should be something more that I can't remember). The Persona anime is one series I'm gonna give a try too. I hope it won't disappoint me. And yeah, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei is a must watch of course. I was speaking idiomatically. |

Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro.
I started to watch it last year, and it's no cool <3 now I'm just waiting for the episodes to be translated XD And I think I am gonna watch Samurai Champloo again, which is very nice too ^^ What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
As much as I love Neuro, it's really just all right in comparison to the manga so far. They're up to 6 out of 14 or so, hurry up!
Rosario x Vampire - I've started reading the manga and got drawn into it from the 2nd chapter onwards. I know the anime will most likely screw this up horrendously by focusing excessively on the ecchi components and sacrificing the actually decent premise, but the format of the show is the same as series like Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro, Muhyo to Rouji, and stretching a little, Jigoku Shoujo. One new monster chapter/episode, one transformation sequence, one proceeding ass kicking. Kara no Kyoukai - Even if I've only went through to beat the game once and only saw the first episode of the anime, if this is similar to Tsukihime then I'm eager for it. Persona 3 -Trinity Soul- - Just downloading and collecting since I haven't and probably won't beat Persona 3 for a long time ;_; Jumping to this straight after the one day I beat the game. Zetsubou Sensei 2 - Obviously! It'd be even more interesting if new classmates were introduced or even a little more into Itoshiki's family. If they cop out and only use the same characters, I'll probably still watch it anyways since it's ZS. Most amazing jew boots |
Well...
ZOKU Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei---The first season is already comfortably disturbing, and the second season must be more disturbing than the first one. Hehe...=p Mnemosyne---(Mamiko Noto)+(thriller)=(nice to be expected) Kure-nai---Since the information about the animation is still mysterious and the graphic's unique, I'm waiting for it. Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu 2nd Season---Expecting this, don't need any explanation why. When will it be out anyway? About Shigofumi and Spice-Wolf, still thinking about it. Toshokan Sensou and By the way, that Real Drive. What is it about anyway? What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

No worries about the 2nd season introducing new characters.
So far, according to the closing credit, they intend to introduce at least the eldest Itoshiki brother and Kinokuniya (Kudou Jun's rival) Jam it back in, in the dark. |
So far True Tears and Spice and Wolf looks to have good opening themes. Can't say I'll watch it anytime soon but I'll keep it in my ps3 for the time being. *Waiting for GGS2 >.<*
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Well, I was gonna watch Wild Life [which was going to air on Japan's NHK]. But due to some unfortunate events -- doesn't seem likely. And yeah, it's an anime based based on the Shonen Sunday title.
So the following animes are as follows; * PERSONA -trinity soul- * MAJOR Season 4 This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ~Fav Radiant Dawn Character~

I just caught the first 6 mins of GG2. Man, I'm really not sure about this so far...the animation and opening theme is so inferior to the original 1st season =/.. I'm giving it a chance but Henrietta doesn't even have that innocent look. And I don't remember Rico ever being so cheery. Triela is tolerable at least and Kou Otani's bgm is pretty decent for now. Go see for yourself cause I can't take it serious at all. I'll take a look at it another time. But hardcore fans of season 1 really loved the opening and the new one is not good at all.

Kimi ga Aruji de Shitsuji ga Ore de is a shameless rip-off of Hayate -- and they constantly advertise that in the show. Protagonist is one of the ugliest characters ever drawn. No thanks.
H2O ~footprints in the sand~ is leaning dangerously towards "trainwreck". I was speaking idiomatically. |
Spice and Wolf - slow-paced and awesome. The story could go in a whole lot of directions, but the character chemistry is most excellent which adds to the enchanting atmosphere of the series.
Initial reports are in that True Tears might be worth a watch as well as ARIA (but we kinda knew that already) and SZS2. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for Gunslinger Girl 2 or Persona, but since I haven't seen either of those, I'm not ready to comment just yet. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |

Hmmm... Interesting didn't realize there was a Gunslinger Girls sequel. I'll have to take a look at that along with that Persona 3 show. Hey I might actually have something other than Gundam to watch, sure glad I dropped by.

Well this is perfect timing, I just finished watching the first season of Gunslinger Girls this weekend. Glad to see that they decided to not have the worst ending ever by continuing the series.
Persona also looks interesting... although I hope it doesn't catch the horrible video game anime disease. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
