I imagine Jack and (maybe) Tony are trying to be careful who they're shooting at the moment? The escape from FBI for instance, the security guards were trying to kill them but they were only drawing fire, right, because the guards are essentially good guys? Same with the assault on the Africa place at the end of episode 4, notice Jack is second going in, Emmerson does all the killing. One thing I hated about season 6 was the assault on the Russian embassy, no way would the Russian president order the assault on his own embassy, killing a load of his people (the russian guards)

That is would it seemed like. Jack would never do such. At last resort would shoot them where they could easily survive.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Not like it matters, the Chinese will blame him for any deaths anyways.

Somebody explain something to me –
Can Air Traffic Control communicate with all of the planes? I thought the whole point of hijacking the CIP device was to cancel all transmissions with the airborne planes, yet ATC somehow managed to come up with some queue system for grounding all of the planes in circulation. It also seems like the FBI analysts’ wife called him from one of the phones that are built in to the passenger seats with no problem…? Do the pilots in the skies know that ATC transmissions have been compromised? I was speaking idiomatically.

Good episode, the end stinger was brilliant. I'm not so sure about the silent clock, I love it when it's used for emotion (no, i'm not one of the 'omg they're not dead so why silent clock' people), but still, i'm not too sure if it fit here.
My main annoyance is with the trailers though. I'm not fussed that they spoiled some things for next week, but I am fussed that they put in scenes in the trailer for this episode that weren't even shown, like Jack at the Whitehouse. I really hope the writers/whoever it is who makes the trailers, don't assume that just because they're shot every episode, they can use whatever scenes they want in trailers to add suspense. I found myself confused in the last 10 minutes because I just couldn't work out how the Jack - 'ask around' scene would have had any time to fit in, and well, turns out it wasn't in it anyway. It's also the second time we've seen Ethan close the curtains in trailers, and we also saw Henry Tailor run across the road in trailers for 2 different episodes (although these are minor points compared to my main one) What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Wo wo, calm down! I can't keep up with all this rivetting 24 discussion!

Did you seriously just bump a thread for the express purpose of complaining that it was quiet

Terrorists plan to attack America, and only Jack Bauer can torture enough brown people to locate and disarm the bomb in my rectum.

Nice modding there sir.

A hypothermic compound to make someone look dead for ten minutes? Seriously?
This is more ridiculous than that woman in Bold and Beautiful getting kidnapped by a Tunisian sultan. Twice. They've come far from the entertaining camp silliness of season five (the best for the series) and sunk a new low for television history. I'll have to keep watching this. How ya doing, buddy? |

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
That was last week. Are you a week behind where you are or something?
FELIPE NO |
Actually, I seem to be two weeks behind. I watch them like 2-3 in a row whenever I remember the series exists and download all the episodes I've missed.
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
It's an "okay" season at best. I have DVR recording episodes and I don't scramble to see brand new eps like I do for House or Burn Notice :x
Some parts have really made me roll my eyes, though. Case-in-point, the silly "I CAN'T STOP THINKING ABOUT LAST NIGHT~ " line. Ugh, fucking Christ. Why the hell can't this show get past office-level drama. How ya doing, buddy?
Hey, maybe you should try that thing Chie was talking about.
|
Come on now that was like 5 seconds total. Frankly, the office drama has been significantly toned down this year from the last few seasons. However, that could change for sure. Anyway this is leaps and bounds over season 6 and 4 so far for me.

Found this on youtube. Funny spoof (I guess it can be called that) of 24.

Ok I liked this last episode, but not as much as last weeks.
Two things bothered me. One they totally skipped any sense of real time with the paramedics at the start of the ep. They could have at least held them off for two minutes, but they were there literally seconds after Jack said get an ambulance. Two, how did Sean, the mole send a warrant before he got Janis to tap into the feed for him? Did he just guess what was going on? Am I missing something here. This really really bothered me, and knocked down the episode a ton. Most amazing jew boots |

But you forget that the previously on 24 happens as part of the episode, or so I believe. If you look at the 24 time at the end of the first segment, and then look at the playtime they are the same, showing that the previously on 24 segment happens in the 24 time.
I was speaking idiomatically. |
No I am pretty certain that is not the case as Jack Bauer always announces the time after the Previously on... segment. Therefore, the time starts then.

But I agree things do happen WAY too fast to be real time, it annoys the hell out of me. Everything seems to take place in 1 square mile. FELIPE NO |
God this season has been high quality throughout so far. Great action, great writing (besides more moles), awesome lines from Jack, good acting all around, good beginning villain, Callery's score is doing a fine job, and the 24 regulars (Buchanan, Chloe, Tony) make it much more interesting. Tony in particular just seems to make it that much better as he did in the first 5 seasons.
Highlights of this week definitely included the Jack/Renee argument, and the final scene Jack and Tony on the Washington steps overlooking the Washington Monument. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Lesser highlights included predictable grief-stricken woman in wheelchair, yet another "Are you even human Jack how can you be so callous" moment, and the hilariously generic "Washington DC Festival".
