Super RYU vs. KEN IV - They're still adding characters other than Ken?

Well now this is interesting, and I'm not entirely sure whether or not I'm down with this:

Quote:

Tomorrow's Street Fighter announcement has spilled, and turned out to be no less than Super Street Fighter IV.

French website JV247 broke the news and offers a handful of screenshots, which feature old hand T Hawk and new fighter Juri, who's apparently an evil Asian girl working for Seth.

Those details come from various forums making unsubstantiated but convincing claims.

T Hawk, for example, is supposed to be protecting Juri, as she has been brainwashed by Shadowloo. The story apparently takes place a year after Street Fighter IV.

Other new characters rumoured are Dudley, Ibuki, Cody, Adon, Dee Jay, Makoto, Guy and Hakan (an Arabic fighter obsessed with oil).

Speculation also suggests fighters gain access to two Ultras now, one of which may be an Air Ultra. There is talk of the Bonus Stage returning too, and apparently engine changes that make Super Street Fighter IV feel very different to the core SFIV game.
[ source ]

This is really going to depend on what they add, how different it actually feels and what they price it at, but I don't really want to be taken for a ride by Capcom, as much as I loved SFIV. Will be tempting though.

Gamespot have a bit of a hands on and write up: Super Street Fighter IV Impressions

Jam it back in, in the dark.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

I mean really, is anyone surprised Capcom is up to its old tricks again?

Can't wait for Super Street Fighter IV TURBO.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Amusingly if we go to Super HD down the road we could one day end up with "Super Street Fighter IV Turbo Super HD Remix".

A little more info:

Quote:
Capcom plans to release Super Street Fighter IV next spring on PS3 and Xbox 360.

The game, leaked yesterday, will be standalone and launch at a budget price.

That's according to GameSpot's information from the Tokyo Game Show, although exactly how much we'll pay is still up for grabs.

Aside from adding new characters - three of which will definitely be T Hawk, Juri and Dee Jay - Capcom is taking the chance to rebalance the existing roster based on your feedback. Part of that process involves adding an extra Ultra combo to each fighter.

The online area of the game will also be brushed up, with rumours of a lobby doing the rounds.

Because of all these enhancements, however, SFIV and Super SFIV will not be compatible online - but there will be some sort of bonus offered to owners of both.

That the idea of bringing back T. Hawk got any traction at all is more than enough proof that Capcom and Cultural Sensitivity still haven't met. Nor should they; ridiculous cultural stereotypes are a crucial part of the Street Fighter experience. Where would we be without Peaceful Indian Who Loves Curry or Macho American Army Guy? I welcome with open arms the return of Englishman Who Is Extremely Refined and Native American Who Literally Wears War Paint And Feathers All The Time. Arab Who Loves The Fuck Out Of Some Oil fits in perfectly.

Games like this just seem so unnecessary in this age of DLC. I probably would have been willing to pay up to $20 if this was just DLC, but as another standalone game I doubt I'll ever buy it unless I happen to find it for really cheap (because I doubt their definition of budget price will be anything less than $40).

I would have gladly paid for this if it was DLC even if it did take a huge chunk of hard drive but I'm not willing to pay for the same game twice just for a few characters.
I'll wait a year for a price drop if I'm still interested.

Since they haven't announced a price yet how can you really say if you'd gladly pay for it or not? Sure if they were saying it was going to be full price, but they're not. They've already said it'll be budget priced, so why not wait and see. This could be iffy, but until all the details are announced I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Seems to me that people are more irritated at it being a product completely separate from the original. Given that it's got more substance than the game's fist iteration and it costs less, what's the issue? Is it that people who didn't buy the first version of SFIV now have the opportunity to pick up a cheaper, better version, and somewhere deep down, those who bought the original version of the game feel deeply wronged and betrayed at being stung for being an early adopter?

that's an interesting perspective, try it down at your local Gamestop

"Why?"

There was a reason I waited to buy SF4, and now I'm glad I did!

It would be nice to be able to brawl with SF4 owners even if you're playing SSF4. Not that I really clamor for the online element, but it would be a nice bonus.

Wait wait, has there been a confirmation that SSF4 will also support the PC?

I mean they'd be idiots not to, but I've learned not to get my hopes up on these things.

Capcom's ported every one of their recent games to PC, I see no indication this will be an exception.
