Gamingforce Soundtrack III - Animespot Edition (Results and Discussion)

A tally of the final votes:

Now, five of those tracks are composed by Yoko Kanno. That's a quarter of the whole list.

So, should we replace some of them with other hopeful candidates? Here's the list for 21 to 40:

So long as Hemisphere and Rise stay put, I'm all for replacing.

Say, does this mean Wild Challenger isn't in? D:

I'm particular towards Wild Challenger, Lonely in Gorgeous and Kiri myself. However there's no full version of Kiri yet, so I'd suggest the next best thing: Musouka.

I'm thinking of swapping out Le Grand Retour too, since it's rather long (and 3 tracks by Yuki Kajiura is plenty).

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

The results are sorta disappointing since it's a lot of old stuff and several songs from the same performers. not that it's bad or anything but it would of been nice to have a fresh list of stuff from the past year.

I'm in for the swapping of Le Grand Retour out. It's a rather long song, and takes a while for the main melody to set in. Maybe you could swap out the older Kajiura tracks, while keeping the newer and excellent tracks from Ghost in the Shell intact; both Turquia and Know Your Enemy are wonderful compositions.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Im surprised that "Break the Cocoon" made it into the list. After all, it is a great 2nd ED theme from a great anime that was THE best in 2k5.

Umm.. replace one of the Eureka 7 songs and put in Who's Theme from Samurai Champloo.

And... put in Shinobu's theme and take out Know Your Enemy.

Umm.. Hopefully no one puts in that My Pace song from Bleach because that was hot garbage.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

As much as I'd like to throw in a word for Tsubasa's "I Talk to the Rain," there's already a couple Kajiura songs in there.

I'll just put in my votes for Kiri, Ashita He, and definitely Bon Bon Bereppa.

I agree. Thoser were the two highest voted Kanno tracks, so those should stay.

Same here. I vote for Who's Theme to replace Storywriter.

I vote we replace Naruto's main theme for Higurashi no Naku Koro ni's opening. srsly, who nominated that?

Inner Light from Ippo? Under Star is much, much catchier IMHO. But I guess Inner Light has its moments too.

There's nowhere I can't reach.
Hey, maybe you should try that thing Chie was talking about.

Rise is a keeper for sure.

Wild Challenger definetely deserves a chance.

The question here should be why nobody nominated the Higurashi no Naku Koro ni OP in the first place.

Oh well, not like we'll get a full version before May 24.

I agree that too much from one composer is overkill. Not that Kanno doesn't put out great stuff, but even in the gaming realm no one is really ever happy when Uematsu and Mitsuda dominate the nominations. So if we're tossing names in a hat for a switch I'll throw in another for Lonely in Gorgeous and also one for My Pace. C'mon, Bleach has to represent somewhere!

I was speaking idiomatically.

I dunno... There were three Bleach songs in the nominating round and your Ichirin no Hana wasn't one of them. Seems to me that if it was such an appealing song it would have at least made the nominations. Despite it being unacceptable to you, My Pace garnered the most votes of the Bleach nominees. It appears as though some people actually do like it.

Please note that we are not using the Animespot soundtrack to "represent" series.

I did. I like it; I think Naruto has a number of good themes, and none of them appeared on the last GFFST. Obviously, since it got seven votes, there are others who do as well.

Le Grand Retour's length was a concern of mine when I nominated it, and since there are other Kajiura tracks here (and one from Noir) it should be dropped. Replace it with one of the Samurai Champloo tracks, maybe?

shit, there was voting?

I'd say replace.

I would <3 it if Cheer!, Venus Say and Lonely in Gorgeous made it in, but this is just me being hopeful.

I'm taking out the following:

GITS SAC - Know Your Enemy
Noir - Le Grand Retour
Eureka Seven - Get it By Your Hands (it's 7 minutes)

Swapping in the following:

Boboboboobobboobobobobobobobo - Wild Challenger
Paradise Kiss - Lonely in Gorgeous

Since I can't decide on the last one, let's swap in a song that was never nominated! You have the following choices:

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni - Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (yes we have the full version now)
Witchblade - XTC
Inukami! - Hikari
Jigoku Shoujo - Sakasama no Chou

On Friday I'll arbitrarily make the final choice and upload the soundtrack. Yay!

I was speaking idiomatically.

Oh yeah, here are samples

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (Eiko Shimamiya)
Hikari (Yui Horie)
Sakasama no Chou (SNoW)
XTC (Psychic Lover)

I don't know why I bother with samples since everyone is going to choose their favourite series anyway

It was a hard decision between Higurashi and Witchblade's opening. Hikaru and sakasama no chou are one of those kinds of songs you already heard before =/.

Ok. That's a comparable replacement for the above song.

After listening to all of them, I have to go with Higurashi no Naku Koro ni. I agree with what chato said. the rest sound like songs we've already heard.
