Help COncerning Hard Drives
As i have stated in my other thread, i just got a 500gb Hard drive, Now my question is this.
Is there a way for my stuffs to be transferred to the new hard drive, and if so how do i transfer this whole "Windows" thing to that Hard drive, since i dont want to spend time in reinstalling and reformatting everything. Help me on this one. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Did your hard-drive come with a utilities disc?
Many HD manufacturers provide free software which will duplicate your drive onto the new one. Check that out first. Otherwise, I can probably rapidshit that software for you, though im not sure if it will work with Seagate (my disc is from Western Digital). There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Surely, LS. You can use Norton Ghost, Acronis True Image, or any disk imaging utility to do the job!
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Norton Ghost is the only software I've used for this. I haven't had any problems with it.
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |

I'm always using dd to transfer the whole device. After that add another partition or enlarge the last one and the filesystem residing there.
I was speaking idiomatically. |
