Trapeze - (Psychiatric Help 5¢ - The Doctor Is In)

From the minds behind Mononoke comes a rather experimental anime (adopted from a series of novels called Kuchu Buranko) about a psychiatrist named Irabu Ichiro, his assistant Mayumi, and the various patients he helps (get worse and then) better.

Each episode tells a larger tale about the city residents in a "small world" fashion, with Irabu helping them get better one at a time. Your merry list of characters are:

Irabu Ichiro (Romi Paku! and Yuji Mitsuya): The psychiatrist in question. He's a bit of an oddball, but he always helps his patients in the end. He has something of an injection fetish, apparently. He comes in three different flavors for your convenience: Id, Ego, and Super-Ego.

Mayumi (Yumi Sugimoto): Irabu's very well dressed assistant. Sometimes she's 2D, sometimes she's 3D.

Fukuichi: He explains shit.

Kohei Yamashita (Toshiyuki Morikawa): The patient from episode 1. He's a flying Trapeze artist who has problems with his co-stars, one in particular who "refuses to catch him".

Tetsuya Taguchi (Takahiro Sakurai): The patient from episode 2. He's a civil servant who has major women problems and can't quite shake his raging hard-on as a result.

Junichi Hoshiyama (Shinichiro Miki): The patient from episode 3. A popular romance novelist who can't stop vomiting when he tries to pop out new works.

Shinichi Bando (Daisuke Namikawa: The patient from episode 4. He's an all-pro baseball star suffering from a serious case of the yips.

So take a little time out of your day and relax- the doctor is always here.

Episode List

01: Trapeze
02: Making A Stand
03: Romance Novelist
04: Hot Corner*
05: My Father in Law's Wig

*Note that the chapter titles/timing are incorrect on this episode. You'll have to skip the OP/ED segments manually if you wish to do so.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I like that later patients are alluded to in previous episodes, and that apparently all of this takes place at the same time.

Seriously digging on this. The rest of you jerkstores should watch too!

How ya doing, buddy?
