Do you keep your CD/DVD on their respective cases?
So yeah, is you Cher Live at Budokan copy sitting on your Metallica Some Kind of Monster DVD case and viceversa? Is your Evanescence disc inside of Mars Volta's case?
Well, when I first started buying CDs they were all mixed up, by the time, I had a friend who basically preached me about how I should take more care of my music and stuff. And he was right, after all if I'm making an investment to build a music collection I might as well keep them well organized. So what about you, perras? Jam it back in, in the dark. |
I'm ridiculously anal about this. If there's one thing that pisses me off is coming home from work, tired as hell, wanting to pop in Big Fish and finding Armageddon in the case. Now I gotta hunt through every case to find it... This is just ONE of the reasons why I no longer lend my movies out.
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
While I don't keep my CD's and DVD's alphabetized or dusted, I always keep them in their cases. For some reason, an exposed disc seems to be a magnet for things that will scratch it or spill onto it. One of the best things about file sharing is that I can just send my friend a CD over the internets instead of loaning the actual disc and case to them and having both come back scratched up.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Well to be honest I only have like 15 or so CDs, I do keep them in their respective cases because otherwise it pisses me off even though I only have 15 odd CDs
My mp3 collection is kept in a good order though, More alphabetical than genre type though unless the genre is an anime/game OST or chillout music I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

It definitely pisses me off when I go to get one of my game's CDs out of the case, and I find that in my brother's laziness, he just puts whatever he was playing in whatever case is available. I definitely anal about having my CDs in the right case.

I put my CDs in the big carrying cases but I keep all of my DVDs in their original cases. I hate it when I go looking for a movie and it's not in its case like it's supposed to be.
How ya doing, buddy? |
Always straight back to the box man! There's nothing worse in the world (well in my world) than running around the house and tearing the car apart looking for a cd that I put in another box, its maddening as hell. And the ONE time I actually do it I lose a Pantera cd for good, that thought me a lesson
How ya doing, buddy? |
I'm also really anal about that. When I lived with my grandmother and my younger cousins would come over, I'd tell them every time that if they play one of my games they'd better damn well put it back in its case on penalty of death.
My other cousins don't seem to be as adamant about it as I am and are always losing their games for long periods of time because it wasn't in the case they thought it was. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
I have all my music organized by genre, alphabetically and chronologically by release date. I have this weird archivist approach to organizing pretty much everything, really. I just don't want to have to look for things.
Jam it back in, in the dark. |
I don't see why they shouldn't be. I usually listen to CDs and watch DVDs one at a time, so they are guaranteed to be put back in the case where they came from.
I thought this was the norm. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
All of mine are in their right cases, give or take a few ones not in a case at all. I've learned my lesson about that though. My cats knocked down my FFVI disc and scratched it up so I couldn't play it anymore. (I know, the PS version sucked anyway. :x)
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Props for mentioning the Volta. =D
I like to keep my games safe, and I don't usually need to have more than one out at a time...though there are probably a few lying around, like DDR or Guilty Gear. All my music CDs are in their cases in alphabetical order on my shelf. I buy them, rip them, put them on my external music HD, then they collect dust. Most amazing jew boots |
My game cases for portable systems house different games, moreso when I let my friends play my games. Lumines might be in the GTA: LCS case, Puyo Pop Fever might be in the Warioware Touched! case, etc. because they would want to switch games every so often.
If I listen to multiple cds in a session, then they might end up in each other cases only for the duration of the session. After I finish listening, everything goes back in it's normal case. Dvds never get mixed up in different cases. I was speaking idiomatically. |
My CDs are all in order and in all the right boxes, I never leave them out of the cases they seem to get scratched far too easily, the same goes for my DVDs. My games however is a different story, all of the games that I play on sit in the space between my monitor and keyboard so that I don't have to go too far to find the game that I want.

I really hate having to hunt for one cd in every cd case in the house.....sometimes the cd might also be in the pc which pisses me off even more bacause I'd have to boot the thing!!! But the cd I burned don't have cases...they have their own cd booklet...one for utilities andmeadia files and one for anime.
FELIPE NO from the makers of Death Note!! Bakuman. Am happy..because AgitoXIII and Parasite Eve 3 is a comin to the PSP!! |
I generally keep all my games in their respective cases, but if I play a specific game often, I put them in a normal CD case and leave it near the PC for easy access.
As for movies, they're always in their cases. I've no reason to put them anywhere else. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |

I keep them in my harddrive if you can figure out what that means  .

On the seventh day, while God rested, we over-ran his perimeter and stole the globe, and we've been running the show ever since. I organize my DVD's and CD's in the same way. Whenever I buy a DVD, I take the DVD(s) out of the case and put them in alphabetical order in one of those massive DVD cases. Its hold 264 DVD's. All the DVD's I have inside are arranged in alphabetical order. The DVD case is placed on a shelf full of other DVD cases in alphabetical order as well. I do the same thing with my CD's
I like having the ability to take my CD's and DVD's wherever I want to go. I'm also incredibly anal when it comes to organizing them in alphabetical order. Sometimes my friends take out a DVD or CD to play and they put it back in the wrong order and it just drives me insane. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Not in the wrong cases, but often with DVD's I'll just leave the discs sitting on top of the case when I've had my way with them. All that extra effort needed to open the case back up and clip the disc in, then put it back on the shelf? I'd break into a sweat for sure.
This can lead to a pile of cases with the discs on top sitting around my room after a few weeks. Games I usually store in novelty coloured thin CD cases, because I'll be throwing them in and out of the consoles often, saves having to pluck a case from the shelf everytime... I just have to dig in the pile and look for the right disc. Much easier! Most amazing jew boots |
God it was awful when I went through my CD buying binge in the latter years of high school, I have upwards of 400 CDs and by years end, they were all in different cases. I spent one very stressful Sunday afternoon tracking them all down, to discover I lost about 5 of them and now have very expensive empty plastic cases.
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Yes I do. When someone doesn't I find it very irritating.
My brother was always really bad about this. Not only would the wrong thing be in the wrong case, but what should be there is nowhere to be found. It makes me just want to take all the games and dvds because obviously someone isn't responsible enough to spend the 2.5 seconds to put it in the proper case. Oh, I also keep mine alphabetical. I don't expect other people to, but I always keep mine that way... I was speaking idiomatically.

I try to keep my DVDs in their cases whenever I can. Usually, I find myself leaving the discs on the table without cases at all. They just pile up in a stack and I tend to sort them out again at the end of the week or maybe a few weeks later.
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
I generally keep my CDs in my CD book, cause i mostly only listen to CDs whilst driving anymore.
Games and DVDs however i keep in their cases, and i'm totally anal about that. Most amazing jew boots |
I'm not really anal about it, but I do try to keep things in check (which I actually did today).
I like to keep all my original media in their cases; that's movies, music, video games. I do also keep them in alphabetical order. When I take something out, I usually flip the case so I can find it easier later, or notice it later and be like "where did I put the disc?" Since most of my stuff are copies though, I keep them in disc storage cases, sharpie'd and alphabetized as well. It's really easy to maintain. The only hard part was just initally starting it all. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
I don't really care as long as I know where I put the goddamn disc. When I have time, that's when I arrange and put them in their respective cases. Usually I have a spare ro two cases for discs I often use (especially when gaming).
