The 4400 and Heroes are pretty different though. The entire point of The 4400 is that people from the future captured people and sent them back with new abilities in order to change the course of history.

In Heroes only Hiro can control space/time and not always very well (yet). I think they'll put a limit on his power later on as well, since it's not only extremely powerful but also appeared to hurt him at first when his eyes went bloodshot making that desk clock move. He seems to have had no problem since then, but time manipulation and long-range teleportation need limitations to prevent him from becoming omnipotent.

About Claire:
Who pulled the stick out of Claire's brain? One would assume it was the coroner, but she was alone in that room when she woke up a few seconds later.

And omnipresent.

And speaking of the 4400, I just borrowed the first season and watched the frist few eps tonight. It's a pretty cool show.

The thing that's been bugging me the most about Heroes is that the setup for the whole deal is taking a long time. I understand what it takes to set up a major plotline, but at the same time, there could be small bits of resolution in each episode to give some sort of closure. Hiro's story has been good thus far. He's realizing his role in the story, and same with Issac. Also, you can kinda guess what's going on with some of the other characters, but Ali Larter's character is confusing as hell. They spend way too much time on her yet they haven't really given us anything aside from the fact that her kid's a dork and she's in a heap of trouble as a result of shit with her husband/former boyfriend. Also, any predictions as to what her power is? It seems like the time that she freaked out from looking in the mirror, she got all crazy like the hulk.

I still see those with super-powers trying to prevent the destruction of New York, a concept not that different from the 4400. I'll stop posting in here to not detract this thread any further.

Clearly he hadn't just drawn it. It takes time to publish and the issue also could've been on sale for a few weeks.

Dunno. Maybe as her brain was healing it "pushed" it out of her. ?_?

The show really picked up last episode. Lots of stuff happening, more abilities being revealed to people, oh, and EVIL...

Spoiler:
I assume it was the coroner. Right about the time when Claire is about to wake up (when her eyes change) you can hear a door being closed in the background. That's probably the coroner who just left for the day.

Spoiler:
While that probably is the most logical explanation, it still doesn't make much sense. I mean, the coroner decides to look everywhere (by cutting her open) except where the actual injury occured, finally decides to pull out the stick, and just leaves without examining the injury?

I don't know, maybe someone else knows about her (or it could have just been her dad), so they snuck in and took the stick out so she could do her regeneration thing. It would just seem weird for anyone like the coroner to just take it out and then leave, and not do any further examination.

But yeah, this last episode was pretty great as well. Out of all the heroes in this episode, I think I liked Greg Grunberg's character's (sorry, his name escapes me at the moment) story the most. It was interesting to watch him not only use his powers in a professional aspect (in his job as a cop), but in a personal aspect in the scene with his wife. I also can't wait to see what happens in regards to that final scene in the bar, where he couldn't read that one guy's mind (was it because he wasn't thinking about anything, or was it because he had some kind of power that could block it?), and then he passed out.

Spoiler:
There was a scene in a preview, two weeks ago, where Claire was strapped down in some kind of laboratory setting and the man with the glasses, whom we now know to be her father, was looking down upon her.

Continuing with my theory that Claire's father is Syler, he'll attempt to use that opportunity to consume her brain, which I'm positive is how Syler is fueling his own abilities, and possibly gaining new ones. (Note that in a previous post, I predicted this and called it "conspicuous consumption".)

However, the preview at the end of this past episode stated that the Heroes will begin to come together. It was revealed in other previews that the comic book Hiro has will show them Claire's predicament and direct them to Odessa, TX, to save her.

If Claire's father is in fact Syler, then this will be a very convenient merge, as Hiro, Nathan, Robert, Isaac, Muhinder (and their allies) will all come in from NYC, whereas Matthew and Niki will be lead in from the West coast.

There's also a good chance that Niki may meet up with this D.L. character along the way quite soon, since his existence has at least been mentioned. Seeing as D.L.'s mother mentioned that he escaped from prison, it's very likely that he'll be on the FBI's Most Wanted List. This provides an excellent tie-in to Matthew Parkman, who's already chasing the man we presume to be Syler.

Also, check my post on the previous page. I told everyone Syler would possess telekinesis. Not that it was rocket science to figure this out, but I like being right.

DL or not DL

Spoiler:

I don't think that guy at the bar was D.L, just a mysterious guy who probably knows a lot more about people with special powers..

IMDB has 'Leonard Roberts' listed as D.L. they also have production photos and promo pics of him.

This is Leonard Roberts (I'm more familiar with his now-dead character from Smallville)

The character by the bar is played by 'Jimmy Jean-Louis' listed as "mysterious man" on IMDB

Check out his shiny little necklace. I like it.

Thoughts on Sylar

Spoiler:

Also, I was agreeing with you guys that Claire's dad could be Sylar, but from screenshots I think Sylar could be a different guy..

This might be a little stupid, but I'm comparing the characters' ears.
Sylar's ears are pointed outwards, whereas Claire's dad are curving inwards.
Also, doesn't it look like Sylar has a scruffy beard and mustache?

I'll try to get higher res pics of the shots with Sylar.

Bar Guy:

It's interesting that you point out the bar guy's necklace. Isn't that the same pattern that was in the code on Muhinder's father's computer?

yup

Was this guy working with Mohinder's dad possibly? Or from a separate group of people who found out about Suresh's unique code/symbol?

Also, what I think will happen to Hiro..

Spoiler:

It seems like he's relying too much on that little comic book of his.. which has endless pages..
Now that the artist (forgot his name already) saw that his girl is with the other guy, it could screw up his abilities and no more comic for Hiro. So Hiro will have a hard time figuring what to do next to save someone.

Hiro's comic had a "To be continued..." in it. It clearly left off with them driving under a sign that said "Las Vegas (such and such miles)", which is why Hiro and Ando are going to Vegas.

hmm... something just came up from my mind. The comic about Hiro, isnt it from the future? The comic was written by Isaac. Doesnt it make some weird non-future-telling-thing?

Bout the comic being non-future like:

Spoiler:
The comic is indeed from the future when hiro traveled forward in time, but when he went back (after the nuke hit) he brought the comic with him. I think he had it in his coat or a hold of it at the time or something, maybe in his back pocket. He did bring it back with him though.

About the Claire thing....

Spoiler:
I was under the impression that her dad had taken her to his lab, what with her chest opened up like that and everything. It didn't strike me as something a coroner would do in that case...I would know, I watch all the crime dramas. XD Oh yeah, and that "mysterious" black guy in the bar was just one of Syler's henchmen probably (with powers of course). DL is a Hero.

Just recently got into watching this show. It's got somewhat of a quality like that in Smallville, but to a more realisticly-logical sense. For example: No strange glowy lights beaming out of some guy's index finger. (At least not yet so far, hopefully.)

Spoiler:
Better than watching Mutant X

That's a pretty good point, actually. I wondered why a coroner would be opening up her chest like that when she had a head injury, but just thought more on who pulled the stick out. Best answer I've heard so far (Rockgamer/SILBER-3 I think said it) was that her regeneration eventually managed to push it out. Still seems weird that they left with her chest left wide open though.

Heroes is developed better than Smallville. Smallville is more comical and has a lot of lame filler episodes, always relying on their "freak of the week" thing (..new bad guy with powers because of Kryptonite, makes some trouble, Clark fights, things get hopeless for Clark, Clark pulls through and wins) It's the same formula over and over.

I'd say Heroes has the feeling of "LOST" than any other show. Building mysteries upon mysteries and keep viewers wanting more when the show is over. (Although LOST has a more intertwined story with characters' pasts and relations to each other)

Let's hope Heroes only gets better each episode they do.

Since everyone is mentioning Smallville, I'll mention that two producers from there (Jeph Loeb and Greg Beeman) are actually working on Heroes (well, those are the only two names I noticed anyway). I wonder how much influence they have on this show, since they have experience with the superhero thing.

Smallville's like that now, but in the first two seasons I thought it was very developed. Heroes can always go down the same path once the second and third seasons are out of the way.
