Here's the trailer for the new movie. I can't even describe how giddy I am right now.

Nice, finally a more unique CG art style (hopefully) than other CG kids movies.

A part of me misses the old live action costumes, though. Imagine a TMNT with the animatronic costume technology they (possibly) have nowadays!

tidbits from comic con.

Quote:
With the teaser trailer now online, Superhero Hype! has a few more bits learned about TMNT--the first all CG animated "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" movie--at Comic-Con in San Diego. We've also posted four new character posters that were on display, which you can find here!

- Writer-director Kevin Munroe was present and revealed five minutes of footage from the anticipated film, which is set after the second live action movie.

- He said that the film will feature hidden jokes from the comics and animated series.

- Splinter will be voiced by Japanese actor Mako. The other voices will be announced in a month, but they are not well-known celebrities.

- Shredder is not the villain in the story, though he does make an appearance, which might set up the conflict for the sequel.

- Expect Casey Jones and April to develop a relationship.

- Marco Beltrami is doing the score, and they are looking to create a theme for the "Turtles" CG movies, something memorable like the "Batman" theme.

- One of the scenes shown features a turtle dressed up for a kids party, and the kids beat him up, with one of the little girls kicking him in the balls. A lot of action scenes were also shown, like the turtles on skateboards, hang gliders, etc.

- The movie features a bat character and female ninja characters.

- There is a human villain, who may or may not be named Winter.

I have a soft spot for the old Live action movies although I am a CG nut. We'll see what becomes of this inner conflict. Movie looks cool

I am like that too Hyde. I never thought I said this, but I actually really like live action version and perfers it, there are some very gritty(?) quality about it. Although who knows, if done right, this might just grown on ya. :3 At least this isn't just another feel good kids film, hopefully... Right? O.o;

I loved the old cartoons and live action movies of TMNT, but I haven't seen the new cartoons since I lost faith in the series when FOX created the live-action version with Venus and said that none of the turtles were related to one another. However, the trailer seems interesting, and it's about time that another TMNT movie was created.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

After watching the trailer, I guess I can see it being done. Not sure if I like the art style that's being rendered with the characters, but it's good that they're not taking it too seriously. What I used to love (aw hell, still do) about the original movies is that they mixed some goofy fun into the story.

The lack of Shredder proper is disheartening. I mean it's Shredder. You need him.

I'd love for a full out 80s movie. Technodromes, Krang, more foot clan, Baxter Stockman, Bebop and Rocksteady. I'll be sadly dissapointed if they write in some new villian.

And I'd kill for a Mouser to show up.

It looks like garbage. It looks like they're trying to blend a comic art style with modern CG... except it turned out horribly wrong. Maybe my opinion will change once I see more than a teaser, but right now I'm unimpressed.

Well, they sure look a bit younger than I thought they would be, but the darkness and the mood is captured quite good so far. I just hope that Shredder will do something badass (in a flashback or not), even though he isn't the main villain.

I've been watching a lot of the more recent animated series lately which does the original comic far more justice than the old animation and the downright campy bits of the old movies (Vanilla Ice anyone?). That being said, I think the trailer looks very promising. The design of the green guys is pretty close to Eastman & Laird's original artwork, the atmosphere is dark, a bit gritty and yet there's still room for humor and a good measure of self-irony.

If that's the spirit of the upcoming movie, I'm already sold.

I cannot express how amazing this trailer looks. This is DEFINITELY E&L's ORIGINAL designs, whoever did it, KNOWS turtle comics in their original form. It says that Shred head will make a small appearance, which is good enough, i mean it is a setup and will create a desire to see more . This is TMNT at its motion picture BEST so far. I am also a DIEHARD fan of the older films (well....1 and 2....2 BECAUSE OF SUPER SHREDDER!). If this trailer is ANY indication of the film (which it obviously is lol) then as Cyrus said...i too am sold. I also cannot wait to hear what theme will be composed for our green masters return to film.

They look weird. I don't know if I like this smaller, thinner look they have. And there's something kinda stupid about going from two live-action movies to a CG movie, if this one is indeed a follow-up of that storyline.

The first movie was fucking awesome. But I think Shredders ALL-EVIL plan to corrupt the youth of New York to get them into crime was kinda lame lol.

There was a grittiness about the turtles in the first movie that made it really awesome. The second got kinda TOO 90s campy.
3rd was just....shit =P

I'm sorry. I just can't put 'darkness' and 'teenage mutant ninja turtles' in the same sentence. It's too weird. They're turtles. I understand the whole campy feel and tongue-in-cheek humor that's been associated with the movies and cartoon (I haven't read the comics, though), but ...I dunno.

The trailer just comes off as something that's trying to be cool with a hint of humor at the very end. The final product will probably change my views on this, but eh.

Go back to 1988 and ask people on the streets about Batman. Then wait a year and do it again.

Well, in 1988 they would have been like "Oh yeah, of course I know Batman ... da-da-da-da-da-da Batmaaan ... Adam West and Burt Ward were hilarious".

1989: "Wow, this Burton movie was dark, I mean dark! I gotta check out this badass Frank Miller comic everyone keeps telling me about..."

My point is (and sorry for making it so late, I kinda forgot about this thread):
TMNT would not be the first franchise to be somewhat ... misrepresented by certain deriative works. Elements like the protagonists' obsession with pizza, the Cowabunga catchphrase and most high-tech gadgets came from the first animated series. The original comics were pretty down to earth, dark, gritty and to some degree a direct homage to Frank Miller comics like Ronin and his work on Daredevil. I'm not saying the new movie should severe all ties to the more light-hearted interpretations (the 2003 animation doesen't do this either and it's ok) but I do hope the Turtles' days of excessive camp are over for good.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

This movie looks weird.

I don't know... the last full on CG movie I can remember is the Final Fantasy: Spirits within or some shit.

That was complete shit.

I don't like how Shredder isn't in this movie either. How can you have a TMNT movie without Shredder?
