Looking for a good Digital Camera

I'm currently shopping around for a digital camera to replace my old 2.0 megapixel Kodak, using my birthday money. I'm looking for a high quality yet afordable brand, featuring most or all of the following features.

6 or 7 megapixels

able to edit picture when stored in camera (brightness, red eye correction, etc)

quick camera speed (I had to wait a good 10 seconds between each shot with my old kodak)

Lengthy optical zoom

I've seen a few deals in cheapassgamer, most notably this one.

http://secure.newegg.com/NewVersion/...82E16830120179

The deal had a free 1GB Scandisk card included, but it isn't listed anymore, so I guess the deal is over. I'm still considering buying it, but I'd like to read a few more opinions and deals before I make a final purchase.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I hate digital cameras for one reason.

That goddamn blur that's inevitable with every shot.

Until I saw the commercial for the Sony DSC-T9 Although very expensive, it has this feature:

Super SteadyShot® Optical Image Stabilization
Sony’s Super SteadyShot® system uses sensors to detect camera movement while it sends correcting signals in order to stabilize the lens. This system results in the reduction of image blur and camera shake when shooting in low light.

Which you should look for when purchasing digital cameras.

About the speed, I'm not exactly sure on that. I know that's the second thing I hate most about digital cameras.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Void, that problem can be easily solved by setting the thing for a faster exposure time.

Soldier, that camera right there looks like a pretty reasonable deal. However, check Consumer Reports to really get an informed review of the product. They spend a lot of time reviewing cameras. I would break out my magazine and help you, but it is 130 miles away.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I'd recommend something, but i don't know of any non-DSLR that can edit white balance after the picture has been taken within the camera itself, which i understand is something you want

It's not a requirement, but it would be nice. I'm told the Canon deal is still offering the 1GB card, so I'll probably purchase it tonight.

I was speaking idiomatically.

My Kodak came with an easyshare dock that recharges the batteries as well as let me transfer pictures. I don't suppose it's compatible with this Canon?

It won't be because that was a kodak dock and it probably had a propietary kodak battery in it. The huge handle on the canon you want to get is where the batteries go. I'm just saying get some rechargable AA batteries, they are unbeliebably rad for cameras.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

I'd have to buy a dock that recharges the batteries though, right? I'll get it of course, but I'll have to look around for the best deal.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

No you don't need a dock. You'll transfer pictures though the USB cable. Just get rechargable batteries and one of those rechargable battery chargers that plug into the wall.

Also, I purchaed the Canon with free SD card included. I should get it in around 3-4 days. Can't wait.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.
