My Name is Bruce

Trailer

Could only find this trailer on Youtube. This is apparently a remastered version that was relesed at Comic Con this year.

Some teens release an ancient chinese demon and call forth on Bruce Campbell (who they think is as badass as Ash is) to help fight the demon. Bruce goes along thinking that it's an acting gig... until proven otherwise.

It's pretty much done kind of like Evil Dead was. Also written and directed by the Ash-man himself.

Movie looks all kinds of hilarious and will be in theatres in October, with a January 09 DVD release.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

No. Hard Pass.

John Mayer just asked me, personally, through an assistant, to sing backup on his new CD.

I've been waiting on this FOREVER.
Likewise. I'm hoping it'll get a release date in cinemas over here before it lands on DVD over there. If it doesn't then fuck it, I'm picking up a copy of the DVD.

Nah. Just a crisper, cleaner version of the trailer shown at Comic Con. Apparently this movie is out in some theatres now. Guess I'll wait for January to get the DVD

bumpage

DVD came out today, haven't had a chance to get it yet. Has anyone seen this and would like to post their impressions on it? I've heard it can be a bit gnarly in parts but overall the people I know who've seen it seemed to have enjoyed it. I'll try to get it sometime today and share what I thought as well.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

I've seen it. Thought it was pretty funny at some parts and other times a little... I dunno. It just seemed like it could be trying too hard in some spots. Otherwise, I found it pretty enjoyable. Bruce is always fun to watch.

You also think FF VIII is better than FF VI, so you sort of have shit for brains and no one cares for your shoddy opinion.

Fine. Be a queen and send it to me, yeah? It would save me the trouble of driving 15 minutes to buy it myself and the fact that you gifted it to me would cancel out the fact that you have your taste in movies is equivalent to Elixir's taste in video games.

(But just for this one time, OK?)

Who could have possibly thought this would be any good? The trailer shows how lazy the whole thing is: well loved cult actor is actually an asshole in real life. Thinks he's shooting a movie but it turns out to be real. Action star turns out to have human failings, but ends up the hero anyway. Stop me if this sounds familiar. It wouldn't even matter how unoriginal the concept is if it had some decent jokes. Sorry, Team America already demonstrated how hilariously asians mispronounce their L's.

But none of that matters because it stars that bloke who was in a couple of decent movies once. The Evil Dead films were awesome but Bruce Campbell is still just an actor. This isn't the return of Ash. Stop being fanboys.

By the way, what was so bad about Elixir's taste in video games? As much of a tit as he was, he did own a Saturn.

"Man, this B movie sure is B movie-ish."

Thank christ Kolba was here to weigh in with his always impressive opinions, else we might have been left with only people who have a sense of humour.

Whew.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

I don't get all the hate. It wasn't that bad. I mean, it wasn't good enough to warrant a DVD purchase, but it was still decent. Plenty of amusing lines, and a cool premise.

It was a cute movie no doubt. Definitely doesn't warrant a dvd purchase...then again most movies out there don't deserve a purchase really.

Though I really would love to see Bruce Campbell in a sci-fi flick. BAH! (Like the one they were shooting in the film)
