Tekken: Dark Resurrection (PS3)

I figure to give it a go and try for a sort of (unoffical) thread of Tekken. Of course speaking on Tekken: DR, it was recently released in Japan and I'm pretty sure there's a good fair amount of people out there that have downloaded the game. Me personally am very pumped for this game (until I get my PS3 that is). March 23rd is the launch date of the PS3 in Europe. And along with that launch is the Tekken: DR download. So this gives me high hopes of it being released here soon in the states. Now, it has been mentioned by a journalist from 1UPYours (Shane) that the US version will contain addition content and features. Of course nothing has been confirmed yet offically from Namco-Bandai. So let the hype begin! If you havee it, share some photos with the rest of the community. Or maybe if you want to share some tips on how you play one of your favorite characters, go for it. Peace out! (EWGF x5!)

I can't wait for it either. I just got a 720P 30" Widescreen TV today so I'll actually be able to start caring about this HD crap now.

I also have Tekken: DR for the PSP and it's awesome, and I thought I couldn't like Tekken 5 anymore then I already did. I just hope that for the US version of DR for the PS3 that they manage to bring Dojo mode over from the PSP version and maybe the user AI network too. Thoes features were really SWEET!!!

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I'm looking at getting a 32' LCD Widescreen TV here rather soon within the next month. We have a lot of people around here who play Tekken. Sadly arcades are a thing of the past apparently. So we set up our own touny's up a either some college campus or at a anime store we have down town.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I don't really have one I don't think man, whenever I play DR on PSP I just get aggrivated with the controls and want to play it on the PS2... so I do. I haven't really done a whole wack on DR to make a compitent ghost version of myself. Perhaps I'll make that a project over the next little while and get back to ya man.

If you have one though feel free to send it to me and I'd be happy to square off against it. ^^

I was speaking idiomatically.

I want the PS3 version but I missed out on it when I had the chance. I guess I'll just wait until it comes out in the US Playstation Store, it really shouldn't take that long with the EU release around the corner.

Just got home from playing it somewhere, and I can honestly now say that the PS3 controller horribly fails for this game.... How does a floor grapple register for Marduk when I hit d/b+1+2!? Why do I get a hop punch when I press d/f + 3!? If you plan on getting this, PLEASE try to get the adapter for PS2 controls! The game looks very crispy in HD though...

Yeah I noticed that on the PS2 version on Tekken 5, however there are two factors that creates this. First is that the PS3 controller is a LOT more stiff and needs a LOT of breaking in to get it working right. The second thing I noticed is after extensive play you manage to adjust and the issue goes away.

However if you consider yourself a hardcore arcade fighter, perhaps you should be playing on a Hori to begin with

I've always been a d-pad player with Tekken so I don't think I'll have any issues. But hopefully they'll fix some of the framerate issues they had with the JA version. The information seemed a little iffy from the Gamepro site so hoping Namco-Bandai puts out an offical statement here next week on the details. And dammit Namco, put a freakin practice mode in it!

Actual competition. If your competitor knows how to play, and GOOD, any ultra hard CPU is child's play.

So according to the 1UP podcast, Tekken: DR will eventually be fully online to play against others. GOOD news.

It would fail. Look at DOA 4 online. There's like a 10 frame lag. That makes most jabs unblockable on reaction. Pretty retarded. If Tekken DR is gonna be online here, it's gonna fail with our crappy broadband.

Well, technically it's still better than not having the option to play online. If it is really unplayable, then I guess don't play :/. Me, it gives me the chance to play against some of my friends who only come home for Christmas and Thanksgiving. And that is a ways away...

most fighting game really don't work online because of the lag issue >.> that's what they didn't include an online mode in VF5 because they don't want it to ruin the gameplay...

anyway they said that it should be up this month no?

Granted there has been some matches in DOA4 with lag issues, but...I have had plenty of matches where it's been lag free and smooth. Although with Tekken: DR, PS3 has the dedication server option. Which in my eyes, would increase a connection speed and make the game less than likely to lag as much, if not, at all. AM2 is just picky about their game. Concidering the game is so much more complex than Tekken.

Due to 8 frame jabbers, and other fast moves, Tekken requires pretty much NO LAG AT ALL. Even the PSP multiplayer has trouble churning it out at a good pace.

So by IGN speculation, Tekken: DR will be out Feb. 26th but no offical word from Namco-Bandai. Also IGN has some good high res movies to see.

Yeah, the PSP's latency of frame display is bad enough, online lag would just be unplayable.

As for VF being more complex then Tekken that's arguable. There's more types of moves in VF, but there's more striking moves and combos (straight combos, not chained combos) in Tekken. Either way, they're both great games and I don't think that anyone who's in their right mind would argue that,

I have to say, IMO, VF defenitly has more depth. This is coming from a huge Tekken whore too. Tekken just has more flash, and is a lot easier to pick up and play. I look at it like this:

Flashiness <---- DOA ---- Tekken ---- VF ----> Fighting Engine

I would add SoulCalibur between Tekken and DOA, I know it has weapons, however it is reconized as Evo to be on the same level as the earlier mentioned. Well not DOA, it's a joke in the eyes of Evo, too quirky, the balance is like they're not even trying, and it's just simply no where near the level of Tekken, SC, or VF.

Jam it back in, in the dark.
