Implying there are guild wars in Guild Wars 2

Now with slightly more effort -edition

Ok so ArenaNet is releasing their much anticipated sequel to Guild Wars in couple of days, so here's a thread to those individuals who have been ripping their hair off waiting for this for years.

Release dates:
25th for pre-purchaser masterrace
27th for pre-orders
28th for the lazy peasants

STORY SO FAR...
After the cataclysmic events of Ascalon's fall, the world.. oh screw this, go read it yourself: The Movement of the World

In short:
- Furries took over Ascalon kingdom.
- Something happened during few expansions, who cares.
- Some blind bitch had her cronies kill a god, absorbed its powers and joined the humans god pantheon "Six Gods".
- 250 year time-skip, during which ancient gigantic dragons started waking up, sank 1 human kingdom, kicked the rat-people Asura up to the surface, slapped Norns out of their hood and blocked some huge map areas simply by taking a nap there.
- 25 years prior to GW2, the vegetable Sylvari were born.
- Now all the races are on relatively good terms because "death by dragon" doesnt sound too appealing to any of them.

Greetings from release.

They got servers working pretty smoothly at start, but after 6 or so hours the predictable server-shitstorm started, pretty laggy after that.
Got quite a bit played today anyway, good stuff.

Character theme ended up as "batshit mad snow white"

There's nowhere I can't reach.
map car man words telling me to do things
find animals!

Mine still hasn't arrived in the mail

Not that I'd have time to play it just yet anyway. Maybe when I get that week off work.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I'm toying with getting GW 2 anyway. with it being Buy-to-play, I could pretty much pick up whenever I leave off, without having to worry about monthly fees or anything. The character creation looks pretty pimp. I probably wouldn't play it much anyway after Mists comes out, but it could be a fun thing to mess around with when I get burnt out. Provided it isn't unbearable and the community doesn't make baby jesus cry

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

I never played GW1 and I only managed about 1 day of play during a GW2 BWE. Wasn't the best of experiences, what with feeling rushed all the time and not knowing what was going on.

Does the release version of the game have an in-game tutorial or prompts at the start? It took me a while to figure out that the control scheme was QWES instead of WASD and I was never very certain about how to initiate attacks and such. Felt bad, man.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Yes the game is pretty chill in regards to leveling, you can do it at your own phase and there's no feeling of "13 dollar subscription ticking away".

As for the community, I haven't joined any guilds yet, but the game's system promotes cooperation so you get helpful players rezzing you or fighting with you whereever. It's a pretty nice feeling.

Game prompts those explanation boxes for everything you do the first time. Other than that, just explore and you will find things to do and action happening.

As for attacks and such, you have your basic attack binded on 1, which usually leads to 2 other combos (like slap, smack and punt their balls), and the others through 2-5 usually have different kinds of attacks/spells, some with various effects and utility tricks. 1-5 change according to what weapon you're holding. Read the descriptions to figure out how to use them.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Reached level 30, head exploded for the sheer awesome of Lion's Arch, spent at least half of today's playing just exploran, jump puzzlan, runnin to every nook, cranny, ledge and whatnot I could find. The level of detail is mindblowing.

After finishing my initial "personal story", I joined up with Order of Whispers. So now I'm going around the world doing spy work and shit. Fucken awesome.

Here's my flashy spy crew:
Spoiler:

As for few complaints I'd mention:

- Crafting professions can be really arsepain to level. I've collected a shitload of materials by mining, but my armorsmithing for example is still making shit lvl 5 stuff. This because some of the required materials are stupidly rare and on the lower level zones, so not only do you hardly ever find them, you aren't even on the right damn zone anymore. Gonna have to spend tomorrow exclusively finding that junk.

- Some aspects of the game are designed to temp you make micro-transactions. Like your bank, it's really goddamn small, you can hardly fit junk from 1 crafting professions in there. So what to do about it? Buy some gems with $$$ to open additional space. FUCK YOU I ain't giving you more money even if I could also get those sweet shades and that cool pirate costume and a handy bank robot and and etc.
Ok you could buy those gems with in-game gold too, but FUCK I'm too poor

Hat Wars 2, calling it.

FELIPE NO

Not even implying anyone reads this thread, but here's few screens from my journies.

Here's me being the ghost pirate captain's wench, after completing the amazing Lion's Arch jump puzzle:
Spoiler:

This one's from my personal storyline quest, pretty epic stuff:
Spoiler:

And this is apparently my secret dickgirl fetish in play:
Spoiler:

Just hit 60, new gear and fiddling around with armor dyes:
Spoiler:

Man I really need to get those black dyes to complete my goth look

What else hmm..
well for people wondering if they should get this or not, I'd definitely recommend it just for playing it through, very engaging journey through a pretty and detailed world with plenty of surprises around every corner, literally.

The general air of cooperation feels great and once I can be arsed to join a guild, I'm sure I'll get even more out of the game.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

Quadruple posting for the winning

I know there are more GFF people playing this, but guess they just cant be arsed to post here.

In any case, here's some screens after I hit 80 last weekend:

Random posing:
Spoiler:

One of the dragon boss fights at 80 zone:
Spoiler:

Tickling its toes will surely make HUGE damage!

That's right furry, start running.

Artillery blew the dragon's wings off and I grabbed a flamethrower to fuck around with.

Overally the open world dragon fights are lengthy with couple of phases, fairly challenging but will eventually fall with enough players zerging shit.

Spoiler:

pewpew

I like how you can level several characters without ever going to same zones as your other character because of the map is just that big. Definitely a plus for replay value.

Took me about 2 weeks to get to level 80, haven't even checked most of the dungeons or pvp yet and still itching to level a alt, so yeah, game can give you your money's worth.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I play too but I am on Sorrows Furnace so yah. Ranger be at level 72 now. I dig the underwater areas a lot, even if I don't like fighting in the water.

I'd post images but my KB is going bonky right now and I cant use brackets and things for the spoiler tags.

My Ranger

The Megalodon

Dragon boss at Splintered Coast

My shark (Smallfin) on land

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Just picked up Guild Wars 2 a couple of days ago, although I'm currently on the Eredon Terrace server. My Sylvari Guardian is only level 7 at the moment, mostly because I've been getting caught up in wandering around and finding vistas instead of playing the quest line or doing events. It's too pretty, I can't focus on GRINDING.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.
