XP or Media Center?

Is media center better than xp, or the same as xp? Are there certain games that don't work on media center?

I'm gonna be buying the new Sony Vaio desktop PC, however at Circuit City the newer model comes with media center and no XP. Not sure why they don't carry the model's that come with XP. So I'm just wondering what are the pros and cons of getting a PC that comes with media center.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

If you have an xbox 360, or would consider getting one, you can stream videos to it using Windows Media Centre Edition, which lets you watch your anime/porn/whatever on the TV.

That's the only real advantage to it that I know of.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Media Center IS XP, only with the addition of the actual Media Center portion. The Media Center software provides a menu system for easily viewing videos, pictures, and listening to music on a TV. If I remember correctly, it has a way to get TV listings as well. That feature is only useful if you have a TV card installed.

So, unless you hook your computer to the TV, Media Center is kinda useless.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Allright thanks for the info, I also recently bought a xbox 360 premium so I guess streaming media to the xbox 360 from the media center is kinda usefull. Btw can you record the stuff you stream from the computer on the xbox 360's harddrive?

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

No you can't.

I was speaking idiomatically.

El Ray has already answered your question, but I have something further to add. Even if you could, the xbox 360 has a tiny hard drive, by modern standards. I'd fill that in about five seconds.

If they ever introduce some kind of a facility for playing DivX/XviD direct from the xbox 360, then I'd rather that it was via the DVD drive than the hard drive. Not that they ever will, because DivX is the warez format of choice...

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?
