Heatsink Fan

So I bought a heatsink CPU fan a while ago, and the thing runs great, speed control and everything. The one flaw that it had was the noise it generated. Now for the longest time I didn't generally bother me, because of the functionality of it. However, it's really starting to get annoying, so I want to replace it with a quieter model.

Can anyone recommend a good CPU HS Fan that is pretty quiet, but will keep my CPU fairly cool? I'd like to keep it under $40-50 if possible.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I bought this one for my gaming rig. Its incredibly quiet (imo) and it also has fan speed controls. I hear its also one of the best, but if you don't mind its size I think its a worthy purchase.

I guess I should also ask, what's the socket type you're using in your computer? The Zalman HS fan is only compatible with Sockets 478 / A / 754 / 939 / 940.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Socket 478, that should work, but I'm gonna wait for other suggestions.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

When I saw the mention of Zalman I thought you were linking to this:

Anyway, it's expensive but for the size is exceptionally cool and quiet, i'm seriously considering it (I would need two >_< though, making the price a pain). To get better cooling and quietness i'd have to go for a massive Noctua cooler, but the installation of that is rather inconvenient.

It'd be useful to know what kind of CPU you're running so that the thermal envelope can be ascertained and a more appropriate recommendation made, catered to your needs.

I'm running an Intel P4 3.0 Ghz, on a socket 478 mobo.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Sorry to hijack your thread, Stealth, but I'm also on the look out for a new heatsink (quiet and good cooling) as I only have the standard one that came with my processor.

I'm running socket 939.
