Super Paper Mario + Mario Galaxy + New SMB + Yoshi's Island 2 = Holy Crap

Its like Nintendo is suddenly on some kind of 2D kick and I LOVE IT.

http://movie.nintendo.co.jp/data/wmv/gc/papermario.wmv - Super Paper Mario

Damnit if that doesnt look fun as hell. Yoshi's Island 2 thankfully looks and plays nothing like Yoshi's Story but instead like the classic Yoshi's Island, new SMB comes out this month and Mario Galaxy I am really looking forward to. Its really nice to see good looking Mario games where the characters arent in the middle of Party or Sports franchises for once. Hopefully these will make up for the long glut before and after the somewhat dissapointing Sunshine.

Double Post:
Shoot - didnt realize this was already being discussed in the nintendo e3 thread. should have checked. A mod may close this if they wish.

How ya doing, buddy?

Oh, wow. I guess Nintendo liked the Bowser portion of Paper Mario 2. Dammit, they hinted the next game in the Paper Mario series would be Paper Luigi!

I couldn't be happier by the news that there will be a new (Super)Paper Mario game (I even recently posted it in the E3 anticipation thread as 1 of my most wanted titles and when I wrote it down....I really wouldn't have thought that they actually would reveal a new PM title), Yoshi's Island 2, Starfox DS, Super Mario Galaxy and last but not least the new Donkey Kong Bongo Blast game for the GC (I just watched video footage of it and it looks much more fun then I anticipated).

Also the new Mario Vs. Donkey Kong game looks promising...I loved the one on the GBA (plus it's music), so a new title in this franchise is always good news!

I do feel that Super Mario Galaxy was shown rather casually between all the other Wii games.
It didn't get it's own seperate presentation, which is something you would expect for such an important new Mario game!
My guess is that they haven't shown the whole thing yet, because Nintendo probably is afraid that the new innovations in this games will once again be copied by other game developers (I remember reading an interview of Miyamoto somewhere where he said something like this).

All in all I have to agree with a lot of people here that Nintendo impressed the hell out of me this E3 (while Sony's and Microsoft's presentations were kinda "meh"!)

I just read about all the new games announced on GameSpot. At least Nintendo's taking a turn for the better. I couldn't ask for anything more.

I'm glad there was no Mario Party 8 announced, or I would have died. Just knowing there's another Mario platformar, another Mario RPG, and a chockload of other surprises is enough to satisfy me game-wise for a while.

I was speaking idiomatically.

What on Earth is Mario Galaxy?

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

It's the next Mario platformer game for the Wii, where everything is set in outer space.

Yera, the Wii looks better every day. I think I'll definitely be picking one up.

According to Nintendo's website, Galaxy is just a temporary name. Interesting.

It's like Nintendo held back on making a lot of awesome Mario platformers for about ten years, and released that energy all at once.
Sad thing is, I'm going to have to get all of them.

If the combined prices of all this stuff adds up to less than a PS3 then Nintendo is set. If not...they're still set...I just won't be able to buy it all.

Super Paper Mario looks... just so god damn incredible... The art direction is stunning

The gigantic old school sprites are hilarious. i can't believe they announced this game. That was probably the biggest surprise of the day from Nintendo. For me anyway. Hopefully they'll have it playable tomorrow.

Giant 8 bit Super Mario and Princess Peach rampaging Godzilla sstyle through the Mushroom Kingdom is without a doubt the funniest thing I have seen in AGES.

And I do indeed agree - Super Paper Mario's art direction is absolutely SPECTACULAR. Its unlike anything I've seen before including the RPG versions of Paper Mario themselves. The stages almost look like dioramas that you can play. And those gibberish equations in the background - Its just positively SURREAL.

This was one title that really came out of left field and I cannot wait. (already diggin' the music ^__^)

Yoshi's Island 2 was also something else I was not expecting. I am so glad they do not seem to be following the horrid trend that Yoshi's Story took. I really hope they dont pull that split stages crap that YS pulled but we havent seen that in ages so I'm not really worried. Its just SO freaking adorable. The addition of Baby Peach and Baby Donkey Kong adding extra moves really does a something new to the series and I imagine the crying fits between all three is the stuff of nightmares. I've been clamoring for a new Yoshi game like the old one and this is really a lot more than I expected. (I can't wait to see Kamek the Magikoopa finally make a return to Mario universe)

I'll take a look at Mario Galaxy in a bit but I wonder what they have in store for that as well.

It really is nice to see good 2D games - especially good 2D MARIO games again. As soon as I get my DS Super Princess Peach and New Super Mario Bros will be my first purchases. I was starting to get afraid that all we'd get in the realm of 2D was generic monkey crap like Crash or mediocre wannabes like some of the latests Sonics. This really is a breath of fresh air.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Nintendo sure does seem to be stuck on hueg Mario, don't they?

Let's see, Super Paper Mario. Yoshi's Island 2. A possibly good 3D Mario game. I am Nintendo's willing bitch now. Please, bend me over and spank me with the nunchuck controller. I've been a bad boy.

The music reminds me of Peach's Castle in SM64. The parts I could discern made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

The game itself, to be honest, looks quite confusing. I think it's impossible to even prejudge this right now.

I agree with you on that, dc. Moving from one small planet to another reminds me of Knuckles' Meteor Herd Stage.

Reminds me a lot more of Rouge's "Mad Space" stage from Sonic Adventure 2. That one actually had small planetoids with thier own gravity though it was much harder IMO due to the wonky control system.
