Hotel Dusk 215

This game looks fucking awesome.

Here are some pictures:
http://www.nintendo.co.jp/n10/e3_200...dusk/ss01.html

And here is a video:
http://movie.nintendo.co.jp/data/wmv/ds/hoteldusk.wmv

I really like the art style; it reminds me of the hybrid overdrawing they're using for the movie version of A Scanner Darkly.

Plus, I <3 detective games so much. Anyone else just jizz their shorts like me?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I adore the visual style and design. The movement system looks neat too and I love the way you hold the DS sideways, like a book.

It's from the guy who made Another Code if I understood correctly, so I have high hopes indeed.

::cue a dozen people whining about how it'll be "too short"::

EDIT:
Just watched the .wmv trailer and noticed the sound is a lot worse than the .mov version I had:
http://media.nintendo.com/mediaFiles...ADhcZeCdUt.mov

This one has an ESRB Rating Pending notice at the beginning, hopefully that means HOLY SHIT ENGLISH RELEASE IMMINENT

There's nowhere I can't reach.

The background music is really nice. Hope the rest of the soundtrack is as good as that.
The game itself also looks very interesting. I wonder what the story is like.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Information from Nintendo's website:

Quote:
Hotel Dusk: Room 215TM

Format: Nintendo DSTM
Launch Date: Q4 2006
ESRB: RP (Rating Pending)
Game Type: Graphic Adventure
Players: 1
Developer: Cing

KEY INFORMATION
Los Angeles, 1979. Players take the role of Kyle Hyde, an ex-cop turned salesman trying to track down a missing friend. Clues lead to an eerie, old hotel rumored to have one very strange room – a room where wishes are granted. Players check in and get ready for a night of surprises as they meet a cast of unusual characters and try to unravel the mystery in Hotel Dusk: Room 215, a gritty new graphic adventure for the Nintendo DS.
• Players hold their Nintendo DS like a book and use the touch screen to grill characters, search for clues and solve mystifying puzzles.
• Players follow the plot twists and turns as they hunt for their missing friend and investigate the mysteries of Hotel Dusk.

Special powers/weapons/moves/features: The DS system is held like a book, which allows characters on the screens to face left or right for more realistic conversations. The unique controls let even novices enjoy themselves. The unique hand-drawn character portraits and their animations are in black and white, making them exceedingly distinctive and able stand out, graphically speaking, from the rest of the game. In the tradition of Trace MemoryTM, the use of the DS to solve riddles is alive and well in Hotel Dusk: Room 215.
This sounds freaking awesome. Phoenix Wright, but you're an awesome detective, and it's in a gritty more awesome style.

OMG!

How ya doing, buddy?

I got moist. DRIPPING. I thought Cing's Another Code/Trace Memory was such a fantastic game, and I was hoping there'd be a sequel at E3, but a totally new adventure game by them, that's better!

The art style is incredible, and even the 3D seems to be pretty top notch stuff considering it mostly looks like vomit on DS. I cannot fucking wait. KEEP BRINGING ON THE ADVENTURE GAME LOVE~

"I WANT PIZZA WITH GUMMI BEARS ON IT"
"They don't sell that around here you stupid idiot"
"SHUT UP, GET SOME"

"Hello Mr. Three Question Marks, I would like a large pizza and a bag of Gummi Bears"
"NO. I CAN'T SEEM TO FIND MY KEYS TO UNLOCK MY BASEMENT"
"What's that got to do with anything?"
"SHUT UP, GET THEM"

"Jigsaw puzzle piece, perhaps this is related to the murder of my wife that hasn't happened yet.."

You know what this reminds me of?

Does anyone remember this quirky little detective game on the NES called Deja Vu? I see these screenshots and I swear thats like, the first thing that comes to mind (I suppose because detective games are so few and far between.) Of course, Deja Vu was also as old school primitive as you can get in many cases

This really looks neat and interesting though.

This kind of reminds me of a lot of point-and-click Flash games I play online, like those room escape ones. That alone makes me really interested in this, because I love those games. The screens look cool, I really like the character art. Definitely gonna keep my eye on this one!

I can't picture a scenario in which this game wouldn't work for me.

K, that's not true, but i have faith. After Trace Memory i'm more than ready to try this company again. This game looks like it's going to serve up something amazing (like a plate of guitars or something).

Anyways, yeah, i'll deffinetly be keeping an eye on this one.

This is brilliant, exactly what I wanted from Cing. This is my most anticipated DS game! Another Code was awesome, but now they've thrown in gameplay, and the story / music seems even better. Good to see Cing doing what they do best.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

This game looks delicious. Hotel Dusk, being the spiritual successor to Trace Memory, (Another Code, what have you) hopefully will not take 4 hours to complete. What about the left-handed minority? Is Cing considerate enough to flip over the images for us or do we have to take this game in the ass? (though part of me won't mind the latter)

I was speaking idiomatically.

Figured I'd bump this to re-prod the interest. Also, I see the release, at least on Gamestop, as December 1, 2006. 4th Quarter like promised.

Of course, this is Gamestop, so take it with a grain of salt.

The Japanese logo text is so much better than the US's shoddy photoshop text... but I like the art on the US version. Less minimalistic, but it shows the style of the game well~

Looking forward to picking this up

Cing's Glass Rose was an amazing adventure game.Tight suspense, and unique way to play. GlassRose is an underdog, negelected gem.

I am planning to buy DS next year, waiting for price drop. Need to play some adventuregames like this.

Immediate buy. No questions. Trace Memory was amazing, and left me breathless.

I really hope this one can match the level of atmosphere that Trace Memory had. They have some serious living up to do with this title.

Just over a week to go till the US launch guys. EGM gave it 8/8/10, and even though that's a joke magazine that has more to do with advertising Nike shoes than video games, it's still worth typing! JapanesenesSNESenes TV advert. Still no Euro release date, which is odd considering Another Code was released there months before America. Comes out here next month though, insert another guitarist smiley here.
