Death Smiles - Glorious Loli Shoot'em Up Action

This month pretty much has one of my most anticipated games coming out in the next couple of weeks.

That game is:

Death Smiles

I can't express in words, how overly excited I am to get this game. There haven't been many shoot'em ups released in quite a while in disc format. As pathetic as this sounds, I specifically bought an X-Box 360 to play this game. Even though I've owned an X-Box 360 for over a month I haven't even opened it up until I own this game.

I know for sure, Skills will be getting it because he loves the shoot'em up genre as much as I do.

June 29th/2010 is the release date and I have my copy already pre-ordered. They have a limited edition coming out for X-Box 360 which includes the soundtrack cd and a faceplate.

Here is some game-play footage:

YouTube Video

Anybody else, excited to get this game.

50 bucks is an awesome price for the LE too. (or 55 CAD, as the case may be.)

I really look forward to this but since I refuse to step into an EB anymore, I've preordered it through amazon.ca. After shipping this probably won't get here for at least a week afterward but that's alright, considering Star Successors is out only two days earlier.

Probably the third person getting it will be Taco, for...erm....obvious reasons.

Make sure you post your gamertag when you set everything up, Angel. Now that you have a circlebox, pick up Raiden 4 and/or RFA, those english releases are very very welcome.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

That video... lmao, is it safe to say it SOLD me? I'm terrible at shooters but that thing looks just like MAD fun to play!

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I've never been any good at the "bullet hell" games. Even the so-called "easier" ones like Ikaruga are impossible to me. This looks like a lot of fun though. I thought Halo: Reach was the only Xbox game I'd be picking up while I'm in Korea, but I may need to pick this up as well.

Pre-ordered this when I picked up Lost Planet 2. Don't really care for the packaged extras but it's $10 less than the usual and it comes with the DLC stuff already so why not, plus I don't see anyone else even trying to bring Cave's shooters over, I think they deserve the money for that alone. Hope we get some Ketsui as well.

Don't forget recent DQ games on the DS.

Am I the only person who thinks most shooters are just "avoid the bullets" games? People make things like that in Flash, jeez.

Maybe it's just because I hate games with tons of kawaii anime characters.

to be honest avoiding bullets being shot at you tends to be a recurring theme in video games

Well sorry I like games that don't involve pressing the A button to put pretend animals into spheres and/or make them fight each other using a battle system that hasn't changed in over a decade

See I can oversimplify games to make them sound worse than they are too, let's have a smug sense of superiority together

How ya doing, buddy?

To be honest, I don't really like bullet hell games that much. I just like the presentation and setpieces when it's done right. Some of the celshaded DC games looked and felt god awful.

Anyway, Wario Ware uses one button and it's also pretty awesome.

I mean, bullet hell isn't my cup of tea to play, but I love watching people do that shit on Youtube.

Also Galaga is a fucking awesome game, and it uses one button.
