Multiplayer 4X Game Needed!

I'm looking for a game that me and 2 buddies can play over LAN, preferably a 4X game (eXplore, eXpand, eXploit and eXterminate). We beat Pax Imperia (amazing game, I recommend it to any 4X lover), and we're looking for something similar (doesn't have to be spacey). We're not big fans of Civilization and we can't run Homeworld because one of the computers has only 600 mhz/128 Ram. We're steering away from turn-based games because they are pretty miserable in multiplayer. I was thinking of trying Dungeon Keeper 1/2. Any more suggestions?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

You can't go wrong with a strategy. The first command and conquer: red alert might be able to run on all the computers.

There's nowhere I can't reach.
