PS1 native resolution?
I don't know why Google fails so hard when I search for this.. Maybe wrong keywords :/
Pretty simple question. What is the American PS1's native resolution? For anyone interested... I'm using an emulator to play games, and I want to scale the output to 3X the original output. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
More like a simple question with a large answer. Oh well, I'm curious what resolutions the PSone supports too. Found out here and at gamefaqs .
Code:
* NTSC Display Resolution +-------+--------------------+-------------------+ | Mode | Resolution (H x V) | Scan | +-------+--------------------+-------------------+ | 0 | 256 x 240 | | | 1 | 320 x 240 | Non-Interlaced | | 2 | 512 x 240 | | | 3 | 640 x 240 | | +-------+--------------------+-------------------+ | 4 | 256 x 480 | | | 5 | 320 x 480 | Interlaced | | 6 | 512 x 480 | | | 7 | 640 x 480 | | +-------+--------------------+-------------------+ There's nowhere I can't reach. |
The PS1 could output at several different resolutions, but a majority ran at 320x240. Some like Colony Wars ran at a bit higher at 512x384 (or possibly 512x240 or 512x480, since the other doesn't seem to be a valid format based on the list Kairyu posted), and a few such as Tobal No. 1 and 2 ran at a full 640x480. But overall only a small percentage ran at anything other than 320x240.
Assuming you want to increase the vertical and horizontal sizes by 3x (which would actually be 9x the resolution of the original game), it should be set to 960x720. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
