Soy milk isn't so bad but it's clearly overrated. I'll take a substitute anyday.

Either way you look at it, Snake has his biggest challenge yet. Getting those darn PS3s to gamers living rooms. Considering the price that is.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Sony certainly shot themselves in the foot, creating another proprietary format for them to cash in on. I just hope this one bombs as the others. In my opinion to put the Sony fans' mind at ease, the PS3 release date might as well coinicide with the all digital tv signal switch of 2009. This way a definitive release date is set for once.

I'm still laughing from that post.

While that is beside the point here is an interesting article posted by Gamespot. The highlight of the article is...

Quote:
Our updated analysis indicates that the initial bill of [production] materials for PS3 could approach $900," read the report. The report said that the production cost of a single Cell processor will be $230 at launch, with the Blu-ray drive setting Sony back $350 per unit. However, the $900 price tag presumably includes a $100 optional hard drive, as a breakdown of component costs in the report totals just $795.

If the $900 estimate is correct, that means the PS3 would have to sell for around $775-$800 to maintain a $100-$125 per-unit loss similar to that of Microsoft's Xbox 360. If the $795 estimate is correct, the console could sell for around $699--within the range recently forecast by a group of analysts and developers polled by CNN/Money.

Merrill Lynch expects that PS3 production costs will start falling after 2007, when Sony can shift the Cell chip's manufacture from the complex 90nm process to the more cost-effective 65mn process. Scaling Blu-ray to other devices will also bring down the drive's price. Merrill Lynch predicts that the PS3's production cost will fall to $320 in the three years after its launch, by which time the Cell will cost only $60 per unit and the Blu-ray drive only $100 per unit.

Fall at the very latest but this'll only apply to the Japanese release, U.S. gamers will have to wait. :argue:
I don't see Sony pulling off a worldwide release. :juggler:

Say this does happen, it'll be like the M$FT release. So far the PS3 has a weak launch title lineup and most of the games aren't anywhere near completion. :eyebrow: It'll be a pretty box to to look at in the living room though.

The titles that are listed as coming soon at either gamespot or ign are your best bet as to what will be released at launch.

I wouldn't be surprised if it happens sooner. During the beginning of the year I would look forward to whatever Sony ARccOS protected discs I could get my hands on. But finally Sony has taken note that it's pretty much a lost cause but I look forward to whatever protection they dish out next.

The whole 1080p possibilities with the PS3 was brought to light when Kikizo had thier hands on exclusive a month back I believe. As for region free, now the icing on the cake would be if Hollywood agrees to region free as well. I'm tired of having poorly done R3 - R1 discs.

How is that for irony. :lolsign:

Those dismissing CRTs completely clearly have not actually sat in front of a calibrated Sony Wega KD-34XS955N HDTV set.

While the blasted thing may weigh more than the one lifting it, it's high praise by videophiles swear it to be reference material with proper calibration.

At least Sony's made an effort to not leave previous generation of gamers hopping mad that there's no full support on their current games. I suppose for the price, it's the least they can do seeing how they shoved BD down our throats.
I may be also jumping the gun here but Sony has a comment on the PS4...yep the PS4 will most likely not have a disc drive. I suppose fiberoptics and digital downloads are the wave of the future.
