I heard PS3 is going to come with Linux out of the box. Is this truth or fiction?

I don't know, I've never used Linux. But if PS3 has an OS then that's awesome!

I don't see why Sony would make their OS eat up more memory/power than MS's OS. There's no logic to it, especially since it operates in a similar manner to the 360. This is a rumor, and anyone that says they believe it does so because they want to believe, not necissarily because it holds any shred of truth to it.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I will not pass judgement on PS3. All I'm going to say is that I love the controller, it's not as expensive as I was expecting, I will never buy a launch system ever again (too many bugs, thank you very much PS2), and Sony has my money with their first price drop (or MGS4, which ever comes first). PS3 will be my first next gen console, and now that the controller 1-ups Wii's, it may be my only next gen console. I'm not a "fan boy", simply Sony is holding all my favorite franchises hostage, and with better graphics to boot.

Don't forget video and pictures. But I agree, iPod is small potatoes next to what you get with PS3. 2 iPods = PS3! I'd happily make that trade. Besides, PS3 is almost nothing compared to the cost of an up to date home entertainment system.

I do not plan on buying any launch system ever again. I learned my lesson the hard way with the PS2 launch. Launch systems will always be somewhat buggy and are more likely to break faster, plus there's the hastle of actually obtaining one at launch which is just a crazy fiasco durring the holiday season. I plan on waiting until MGS4 comes out to get one. Plus Sony could pull a Microsoft and redo the core chip in later models.

I'll get the $499 version if it has Wifi and PS2 memory card slots. I could care less about HD outputs at the moment.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Hey, is it possible that the first gen PS3 games will be on regular DVD's thus reducing the cost (like the first PS2 games were on CD's), or is Sony going to force all PS3 games to be on Blu-Ray?

Well, to be fair, only the first gen PS2's had a serious problem with that (and some of the later ones). This is why I refuse to buy a launch PS3, I learned my lesson with PS2 that launch systems are bound to have bugs and problems. I missed Gungriffon Blaze as well until I got a slim PS2. Then I realized that I had become jaded by much better games and that Gungriffon really isn't that great in retrospect. Anyway, I'm sure Sony doesn't engineer thair stuff to break on purpose (like the planned obselecence in cars?), they're simply really bad at engineering it to not break. And why is everyone insisting on buying the $600 version? If the $499 version comes with Wi-fi and Memory card slots then I'm all for getting that one.


Free online gaming with PS3? I'm sold. I don't like Microsoft's "Live" system where you have to pay for it, even if it is $80 a year, that's still $80!
