Listening to Drudkh and Hate Forest nonstop these days. Took time to grow on me but I'm totally addicted now.
Also, been hooked on Ashen Light's Stary Bilini album a couple weeks earlier. I liked Ashen Light's first alnum but that one was a totally awesome surprise. Folky nature influenced instrumental Black Metal at it's best. Nyep ~ Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Supernal Music has been supposed to release new Drudkh for almost a month now... RELEASE IT ALREADY BASTARDS
I'm going through an Slavic Black Metal phase again. Discovered many side projects from the whole Oriana clan, among which are a few gem. Special mention to Finist which is as terrible as it's excellent. ^_^; There's nowhere I can't reach. |
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
/me listens to Butterfly Temple again these days ~ How ya doing, buddy? |
I was speaking idiomatically. |
New Munruthel out since the 28th. Only 1000 pieces available from Oskorei though, and I couldnt get ahold of it yet. Can't wait ~
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
FELIPE NO |
OMFG new Tyr ? =O
I was just coming here to ask about the lack of good Viking metal releases these days =p What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Listening to it now kekekekekekeke ~
Reaaaally nice so far. Just like their usual style with, I'd say, even better musicianship. Most amazing jew boots |
And yeah new Manegarm is <3 There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Anyway, just in case and for Vemp' sake anyway: http://www.sendspace.com/file/ewnu1b Oh, and while the new Korpiklaani is fun, they still don't do much to me. I always feel like I'm kinda listening to some weird ska/metal when I listen to them. =/ This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
I've been listening to latest Slavland "Tarcza Swaroga" today, and its fucking great. Exactly the kind of folk / black metal crossovers I love.
And o ok Morrigan ;_; How ya doing, buddy? |
They rock ~ I was speaking idiomatically. |
Folky? I'd rather say plain sterile. I dunno their music just never made me feel anything. =/
And Asmegin is <3 What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
As for Viking metal, you seem to be on the right track. Early Thyrfing (first 2 albums are my fav), all Moonsorrow, Falkenbach, Manegarm ... Otyg is more Folk metal but I guess it could be argued. Still great. Get Storm's Nordavind if you like them (actually get it anyway it's that awesome). Vintersorg I never liked much eventhough everyone say they're awesome. Same goes for Einherjer ... =/ The Russian equivalent of those would be bands like Arkona, Pagan Reign, Temnozor, Nomans Land ... I'm just saying you'll like them if you like the above. FELIPE NO |
Oh btw it would seem they just released a new album. Must get ! And bleh about Blind Guardian ... It's all about Nightfall to me and I didnt really like Opera already ...
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Also, call me noob, but I've just slipped from the psyche/prog rock phase I was in to rediscover the fathers of metal which, with the exception of Rainbow, I know relatively few about. Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Dio, ... and all the gang, here I come ~ Listening to Black Sabbath debut now, and wow, is this really 1970? Aaah, the seventies ... what an endless source of wonders you are ... Jam it back in, in the dark. |
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
So I've gone all the way from 1970 to 1980 with Black Sabbath, Judas Priest and Rainbow so far. Loved Sabbath and Priest, and all Rainbow with Dio, but I knew that already.
Anything fantastic I'm missing? =p This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
How ya doing, buddy? |
And while this would be true for Gamma Ray, I don't think I listened to Helloween since I was like 15. I was speaking idiomatically. |
Could be. You know, the thing is I actually used to listen to Black Sabbath, Judas Priest or even Accept, Ozzy solo, Motorhead an all the kind, in my mid teen years.
At that time, my step sister gave me her whole hard rock cassettes collection from when she was herself a teen, and so I was suddenly loaded with literally hours and hours of music. The only things I got from it were total worship for early Alice Cooper, Rainbow, the Am I Evil song by Metallica and, granted, a general taste for metal. But all the rest? Well, I guess it kinda canceled itself from having so much to listen to at an early age. Thus why I'm even more surprised at how great some of this stuff is now that I listen to it something like 10 years after. And also thus why I'm open to (re)listen to basically anything. How ya doing, buddy? |
And no I don't think I even listened to Death, but then again I never liked Death Metal much, and that is based on much more recent experiences. =p FELIPE NO |
Okay then ~
By the way, Lent had to warn me about the new Rhapsody like 2 weeks after it was released! How come nobody mentioned it in here? Pretty good album btw. Really sounded like they were covering themselves, but it has that fresh Rhapsody thing, so it's all good. Oh yeah they changed their name to Rhapsody of Fire too, for some copyright reasons. And as much as I liked that album, I almost equally disliked Luca Turilli's 2 latest efforts. Seriously, wtf Luca? ;_; What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
And about Wintersun, well, as much as I liked the first album, I will always feel it's a big shame he splitted from Ensiferum, as both bands became less than old Ensiferum was. Most amazing jew boots |
