Fall of Reach was the best Halo book, so to experience some of those events in a game will be freaking awesome, even if it doesn't follow the book. Some of the additions I've seen so far (sprinting, reactive crosshairs, larger scale in battles) have looked really exciting, and I can't wait to play the campaign. New music should be sweet too.

Als fuck yeah Elites who sounds like aliens and not Keith David.
Because who wants to kill Keith David. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Latest ep of Gametrailers TV has Reach special, Keighley interviewing some Bungie dudes as well.
Also This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Hopefully support does not mean just DLC map packs for a fee.
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Before you insist on countering with more "yeah but still" Shin, AIs are pretty rare and "fragile" in the Halo universe. They prefer VIs because AIs are prone to start doing stuff on their own and going nuts. This is why when an AI does get made, they are designed to die out in, was it three years? I think.
Anyway, because AIs are complex and delicate creations, they're not only files on a harddrive, and can't be copied or the copies would deteriorate. And AIs with deteriorating thought process are a no-no. And you really should read some of the books, they're pretty good. Especially Fall of Reach. They also explain a lot of the stuff you're wondering about. I was speaking idiomatically. |
The Flood is just a weak novelization of the first game, with added viewpoint of the Covenant, something that annoyed me the hell in Halo 2 already. The Covenant were such a great enemy, since you knew nothing about them, they were so fittingly alien. And then suddenly they made them talk english and tried to humanize them and crowbar in pointless Episode I politics. Anyway, just read Fall of Reach. Great, quick, entertaining read. Sheds some nice light to the Spartan II program as well as some of the technology of the Haloverse. In general stick with Eric Nylund's Halo books, though I've not read Contact Harvest so I don't know if that's any decent. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Yeah, I kinda haven't paid anything for my two years of Gold. Not that I've played online once either but still.
As usual, I'm not so much worried about how this affects me (it doesn't really), but rather concerned as to what MS is thinking. I don't feel this is the kind of thing they should play the "well, they'll pay anyway" card like Activision or something. I mean sure, a number of people will pay anyway, but this is not winning them any favors when this is the time they should be appealing to their audience, not pissing them off. Also zip, you can't buy the from an american seller, but you can buy them from UK, like play.com or zavvi. Same for MS Points. Unlike PSN cards, MS's codes are not country specific, but market region. FELIPE NO

As for the second para, Halo does have vehicles and many different game modes. Forge allows you to come up with all manner of additional shit too as far as I understood. Halo was one of the first (at least on console anyway) to mix FPS and vehicles so seamlessly. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
So I played my very first Halo MP in the history of ever earlier tonight and it wasn't a complete disaster.
Bungie.net : Reach : Game Details SWAT is pretty crap, tho. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Well, I suppose SWAT as a concept is interesting considering how little most multiplayer modes deviate from each other within a game, but it could be down to the map I played on, as after the first few kills, everyone just start sitting in corners on high balconies and hoping for a good view of the area without exposing themselves from the side or behind, and the whole match devolved into something awful. It was like a slow moving counter-strike, but without any of the tension or precision.
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Well, many of the armor unlocks such as the noble team helmets require other stuff than just credits, often the criteria is earning certain set of achievements. You also unlock certain armor on Halo Waypoint, and by earning certain achievements in other Halo games.

So that's the rape tampon ability then.
I was speaking idiomatically. |
I know exactly what I'm doing wrong. I can't aim worth shit at the higher turning speeds, and at lower turning speeds I'm far too slow to react to corners or other blind spots. Not to mention I am terrible at assessing grenade throws, most of the time they bounce off corners or edges and end up hurting me more than my targets.
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Great, all four of us can do firefight and feel slightly better about not constantly losing for once.
FELIPE NO |
I don't think that's 183 people playing Reach, that's 183 people playing the particular mode you've selected in Matchmaking (Team Slayer, Team Objective, etc), looks like score-attack to me judging by the banner.
634 on Team Objective right now. Refreshed and it was a 100+ more. How ya doing, buddy?

Not sure if these are old hat, but they're pretty hilarious and educational.
I love the plasma launcher one in the first ep sooooo much. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Didn't you hear. He's this close to getting the last achievement. no need to play after dat
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
I fucking hate Snipers on team slayer. It's even worse than SWAT somehow, AND EVERYONE KEEPS VOTING IT.
AND WHY IS THERE ALWAYS ONE PERSON WHO DOESN'T VOTE WHY WOULDN'T YOU VOTE This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Hemorrhage 8 vs 7 devolving into 8 vs 2, then evolving into SUDDENLY HILARIOUS BUMBERCAR PILEUPS is best

I also loved how Brain literally squeezed under us Spoiler:

Originally it was because I was playing with headphones, and only used the mic of my headset, and had chat voice come through the headphones as well, so all the talk pretty much got covered up by the explosions and gunfire. Then I started using the headset as a headset, while still having one of the headphone cups to my ear so, and I can hear people talking much better now.
That said, I hardly hear directions from you, I catch something here and there, but I didn't realiz you'd talked more, so they must get drowned out by everyone else talking at once. And gunfire. I was speaking idiomatically. |
Best thread rename.

My guess is he was expecting it to run out. Or maybe he really doesn't know what armor lock looks like. Maybe he was on a tiny SDTV and couldn't make it out and thought it was a shield pop.
FELIPE NO |
It looks like he's saying people who play offline are capped at 1000 credits per day as opposed to 60k when online?
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
This isn't me, but it could might as well be me with the way I handle the grenade launcher.
