Movie News That Doesn't Deserve Its Own Thread Thread

So a bunch of movie news comes out but sometimes its small, and theres not really a point of making a thread about one trailer when no new news will come out for a while.

So, this thread!

To start it off, how is this Heath Ledger?

Well, I'm sure you know thats fake given that the script hasn't been completed, so pre-production hasn't even started, let alone casting.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I actually didn't but i guess summer 2008 does seem kind of far .

Well apart from the possibility of a fake poster as the opening post, i'm sure the thread could still have some use.

IMDB reported that they're reportedly thinking about Mark Hamill taking on the roll, live action, for the first time.

In a perfect world, it would happen. But who's to say they'll even use Joker? Having the playing card at the end of Begins doesn't mean anything if Two Face goes from Billy Dee Williams to Tommy Lee Jones between movies.

Mark Hamill would be so fitting, seeing as he's voiced the Joker for so long. I think Jack Nicholson should make a cameo somewhere if the next movie does involve Joker. It'd be a cool little reference to the first movie.

As appropriatley creepy that picture is, I still cannot fathom anyone other then Mark Hamil or Jack Nickolson playing Joker.

Comics Spoiler below:
Spoiler:
Plus I'd like for them to stick to the early years of the comics (Carmine Falcone, The Halloween Murders) and have Harvey Dent turn into Two Face about two third into the second film (Should he be the resident villian of that movie), and then setup his duality to where as Two Face he assists in creating Joker (Throwing the comics continunity out the window, lawl), and as Harvey Dent tries to prosecute the Joker. Batman comes along and tries more or less the same thing.

I forgot the issue it was of Long Halloween, but there was a great panel where Gordon, Dent and Batman are all standing ontop of the Police Station and when Gordon tries to indtroduce Harvey to Batman they're like "Bats" "Dent" "Ahh I see you've already met".

I would love it if they had something like that in the second film.

Joker should be in the third film, with the Halloween murders being most of the second film, or maybe have Joker manipulate the Holiday Murder?

When's the last time Mark Hamill even acted for real? The last time I saw him do live action was a guest appearance in the sitcom Just Shoot Me.

Nolan and Goyer have commented that Batman 2 & 3 would focus on The Joker and Two-Face with Bats 2 having Batman trying to track down and apprehend The Joker with the assistance of new D.A, Harvey Dent and Jim Gordon.

Of course that was the original plan but for now they're just focusing on getting The Joker in the sequel. Heck there's even a nod to him in Superman Returns.

Also, he was playing himself, so it wasn't so much acting. I think the only time I've ever seen him outside of Star Wars was that episode and the first live-action Guyver movie.

Other news about movies that are a ways off includes a poster for the new Star Trek movie, which indicates both that they're going actually to make one, and that they're definately going back to the original series crew.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

JJ Abrams is hoping to direct as well as write - but has gotten neither job at the moment. StarTrek.com has the teaser poster in several variations for downloadable wallpaper.

If JJ Abrams writes/directs it, you know it's going to start off extremely awesome and then just be anticlimactic right at the end.

Nolan has said since about a week after Begins hit that his ideal "trilogy" would be Joker in the second with Dent/Two Face coming about in the third. Couple that with the heavy rumors of Joker casting that have been floating around, and it's starting to look pretty likely that Mistah J is going to show up.

Recently though there have been alot of rumors floating around Heath Ledger as Joker. Reportedly it comes from the same source that first said (and were right) that Routh was going to be Superman. Still though, I hope they go for either Paul Bettany or Adrien Brody, as previously rumored.

But yeah, you're right. No casting (aside from Bale) is confirmed yet and this is all just speculation.

How ya doing, buddy?

Forgive me, but I don't understand how these movies are working, exactly.

Are they supposed to be remakes of the previous movies, or are they going for their own set of movies here altogether?

If it's the second one, then I really hope it's going to have the same mood as Batman Begins.

The latter. It's essentially a restart since Batman Forever and Batman & Robin just dragged the series through the mud and butt fucked it with a barbed horse cock.

If the Joker is to be in the next movie, then I'd say it's going to be its own creature, seperate from the original movies. I think it'd be refreshing. Kinda like disregarding the old movies and forgetting they ever happened. Ah-nuld as Mr. Freeze... I mean really.

Take a look at who's rumored to be playing Harvey Dent/Two-Face.

http://community.livejournal.com/ohn...t/7742533.html

Quote:
Batman Begins Sequel---New Villian: Justin Timberlake??

Justin Timberlake has been tipped to play the next 'Batman' villain.

The pop heartthrob, who is currently pursuing a Hollywood acting career, is reportedly favourite to play evil Two-Face in the follow-up movie to 'Batman Begins', which stars Christian Bale as the Caped Crusader.

A source revealed: "Justin would be a perfect choice. He is getting more and more into a film career alongside his music one."

Despite his clean-cut image, the former boyband star has already proved he can play dark characters - by his portrayal of a foul-mouthed drug dealer in the upcoming movie 'Alpha Dog'.

The film - which also stars Bruce Willis and Sharon Stone - is based on the true life story of drug dealer Jesse James Hollywood, who was suspected of kidnapping and killing a 15-year-old boy in 2000.

Justin plays Hollywood's pot-selling friend Frankie Ballenbacher.

The singer, who is romancing Hollywood beauty Cameron Diaz, won the role after impressing movie bosses with his film debut, 'Edison', in which he plays a young journalist who helps uncover corruption in a specialised police squad.

Well I really hope they decide to work with the above storyline, because it would work well, and be a nod to the comics (Refer to my earlier post about a particular scene that I felt they should include in the movie). What was the reference in SR, btw?

For me it really comes down to suspension of disbelief. Am I really going to be able to buy Justin Timberlake in a serious role, in a dark film? Or will I have a mental image of him dancing some fruity dance to some fruity song the entire time he is on screen?

There's a news story on the TV in the background during one scene that talks about the various homicides commited by a clowned psychopath in Gotham City.

I think he's done a few crappy low-budget films, but other than that, nada. At first I was opposed to Hamill playing a live-action Joker (based I didn't think he looked the part), but then I realized that if it was done right, he'd be absolutely perfect. I mean, he still has the stigma of being Luke Skywalker and his "acting" career has pretty much floundered and become a joke. I'm sure he'd give a chilling performance as the live-action Joker (since he knows the character inside and out), and man, talk about a way to revive one's acting career!

However... I still think it's unlikely they'll actually cast him. In a perfect world, they would, but I'm sure they'll end up going with Heath Ledger (bleh) or Paul Bettany or one of those types. *sigh*

Mark Hamill, strangely, is a VERY good villian actor. One of my all time favorite guilty pleasure movies is a 1989 UK movie called Slipstream. It's incredibly awful despite the stellar cast; Hamill plays a bounty hunter and plays him pretty goddamned ruthlessly.

Lets wait and hear that they finished the script before looking for someone to apply it to. (Also, Ledger has reportedly sworn off doing more hollywood movies in an attempt to save his credit as an actor)
