Dammit, I know a friend witha 360, but they're region locked, so getting the demo off play asia or something is useless...
Still curious for this title. Its looking good so far. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. { :: ~ Air - the 1000th Summer ~ :: } :: That sea went on forever, into the blue distance :: * That road went on forever, continuing straight ahead * ~ : Summer comes again, shining silver : ~ : When I close my eyes, suddenly I can see that day's blue sky : |

Nice, too bad it's coming out on 360. I may have to get one now

No one's posted in this in over a year? Heh.
Some new gameplay videos and a new Japanese trailer. The game comes out tomorrow in Japan. The first 10 minutes: Lost Odyssey - Gamersyde Gametrailers.com - Lost Odyssey - Winter 07 Japanese Trailer HD FELIPE NO |
This is actually looking good. It's too bad that it will probably suffer in recognition simply due to the platform it's being released on.
Edit I take it back after this quote from IGN:
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

I was kinda looking forward to it when the trailer was first released at E3 04 or was it 05? Anyways, I dont know I kinda stopped caring about the game now for some reason, but I read that it's going to be a long game so I might as well try it when ever it comes out in North America. It's been a while since I've played a good RPG game.
Any one else not so impressed with the graphics of the game? Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Based on the trailer that is found on the Mass Effect LE disc, its graphical style is dated, to put it nicely. Looks like a PS2 game. Of course, things like story, gameplay, music, and such are more important than graphical style, so that is not a big deal. But then, I am doubting that they will deliver all of that. Based on the trailer I saw, it looks like the story is going to be a whiny emo-fest. "Omg I live long time, people I love die and stuff waaah." It looks like its going to be a 720p resolution version of a generic jap PS2 RPG from 2001.
There's nowhere I can't reach. I didn't say I wouldn't go fishin' with the man.
All I'm sayin' is, if he comes near me, I'll put him in the wall. |

I thought Blue Dragon looked fantastic, personally. Probably the first "real" next-gen looking RPG. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Because the people that have bought this game (in the Team Xbox site forums or the Xbox.com forums) pretty much like this game overal. I was speaking idiomatically. ~Fav Radiant Dawn Character~

Well, even though this' a Hi-Def RPG. People wouldn't care about these "graphics". All they like nowadays is a great solid story. Which L.O. If all you cared for the visuals. Then this game like these would definitely not be for you. And besides, you do NOT buy a game simply by it's graphcis. But rather you buy them to enjoy the overal game's features + it's storyline.
So, what I said is true. Because afterall, it'd be a waste of your (or anybody)'s time who only cared for the in game visuals. Sure graphics may be nice and all. But really, that's not why gamers come to buy games like these. Is that they have great stories to tell, and great character development. FELIPE NO ~Fav Radiant Dawn Character~

Eh. The technical issues don't sound any worse than Mass Effect (which were perfectly tolerable). If anything, I had bigger issues with the massive screen tearing Blue Dragon suffered from...
How ya doing, buddy? |
You know, I never noticed any screen-tearing in Blue Dragon. Although, I play about 4 feet away from a 20 inch SDTV, so my ability to discern when screen-tearing is present might be a bit off.

Mass Effect has FAR more Technical issues than Blue Dragon.

There is a small review up of LO by duckroll on Neogaf and the game seems to be good aside from the shitty plot.
The source can be found here: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=211906 I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
So the game has been released here in the states. Picked it up on wednesday, but only till now have i had time to put in a serious session and i have to say it's probably one of the best RPG's in recent years and much better then Blue Dragon.
Also the "A Thousand Years of Dreams" segments are amazing. So engaging yet sad and i've become addicted to finding em. The story while slow to pick up isn't all that bad( barring the horrible FFVIII tendencys of Kaim crying ). So what does everyone think of it? I was speaking idiomatically. |
I just picked it up as well. I'll probably try it out today. I heard it was pretty good and the Dream segments pretty much make the story awesome.
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
I don't have much interest in this game. I'm sort of curious about the storyline but the gameplay is something I don't want to sit through. Plus the characters bother me stylistically, especially the male lead they parade around. He either has an extremely long torso or very short arms. I really don't feel like playing a two generation ago RPG with prettier graphics.

I went in thinking that I was going to hate Lost Odyssey. I've come to dislike traditional turn based RPGs over the last few years. DQ8 for example, I wish I could like, but I just can't quite for some reason.
The thing that LO does that I like is that they don't have 10,000 systems that you have to manage. You just job link, equip 2 pieces of stuff and then go on and kill shit. Sure there's the ring customization, but all you do for that is collect stuff and then choose what you want from a menue, nothing that technical. The other thing that it does is it has a good gameplay to cinematic ratio. I like cinematics, and while I also liked FFXII, you had to do WAAAAAY too much just to get to the next bit of plot development. In this the story keeps rolling it seems. Now don't get me wrong. This is far from the greatest RPG of all time, however I do feel that it is the best RPG of this generation. (just edges Eternal Sonata out by having more mature themes) Side note: It's nice to see a game where Nomura's art style really shows. Kaim TOTALLY reminds me of his sketches of characters like he made for 9 and earlier. So cool. How ya doing, buddy? |
Hmmm, I played about 5 hours' worth. I don't know if that's enough for a solid opinion (in fact, I know it's not), but, so far I'm really enjoying it. I really like those "dream sequences" Kaim (Kiam? I hate spelling) goes into. Lots of reading, sure, but very interesting reading at that.
