Counter Strike Source Server Pings
Seriously, what should a normal acceptable ping be for counter strike servers? Because I get booted from most servers for having a ping of 120+
I'm at college so my ping fluctuates around 150-300 ping, yet I cannot play on a single server without getting booted because of excessive ping. What is a normal ping limit for CS: Source? Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Sup GFF faggots, who can't handle shit? |
IDK, when I play with my mates, we don't normally accept people more than 70 ping >.> espically during Zombie Horde >.>
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Most servers seem to have 150 as the upper limit.
Somehow, I usually end up with a ping of 5-10. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
I mean, yeah, I can get that kind of ping on LAN, but online? How are they doing this?
How ya doing, buddy? |
I'm at a university, and that ping is online...
I was speaking idiomatically. |
Usually on most online FPS, being below 100 is good, lower than that is even better.
Other servers might be less strict about it. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
What the hell then? I'm at a university as well, but my pings don't go below 130. And even that is a generous ping.

It depends where the server you're playing on is located.
If it's close to you, it should be pretty low. I'm on DSL, and the last I played cs I had a ping of roughly 50-70. And that was high. Most amazing jew boots |
Actually, that's probably why. I think these servers are all obscenely far away (like in foreign countries). That would explain high pings. Thanks.
How ya doing, buddy? |
Imflammable is not lying. On the right server I can also get pings of 5-7. Average player's ping is usually around 50.
I've seen very few people with pings higher then 130. Most servers I play on have 180 as the kick limit. It's lame, but there's nothing you can do about that. Most amazing jew boots Soldier: Prepare yourself, rebel scum!! Arngrim : (These slipshod soldiers think they can call me "rebel scum"?) |

It's because of that "lag shield" crap. They don't want to lead shoot on one player for 10 minutes to kill them >.>
Anyways, I see that as some kind of "excuse" sometimes. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Sup GFF faggots, who can't handle shit? |
Well, appearently, anything above 100 ping is considered as "lag" >.>. Maybe that's why some of pros doesn't want to play. It won't make a difference for me though T_T
I was speaking idiomatically. |
If you can't find a single server with a ping below 90, it's pretty much hopeless. Above that, and it's not just you lagging, it's the entire server that gets affected, so any decent admin will kick you. And, really, if you're above 70, you're in trouble.

Well, that may be the case, but I play relatively lag-free with a ping of 150 - 200. Granted, some lag is visible, but not enough to effectively put a dent into gameplay.
