Gamingforce Forums Final Fantasy Football League 2008

It's that time of year again! Training camps are open and fantasy football leagues are too. As usual, a nice turnout is expected and, with such, hopefully another competitive season. I'm only being so optimistic because I landed the silver last year.

League name: GFFFFL08
League ID: 192506
League password: gffffl08 (that's 4 F's)
League page: Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Football - There was a problem
Current draft date: Saturday, August 30 @ 11:00PM EDT

I dunno what BucPride did for the rules last year but that's what I'm using again this year. If anyone has any suggestions for changes I am as always open to suggestion. The date and time is also changeable, though I should note that, as usual, times and dates are gobbled up fast so I went with a late Saturday time.

I'm game again this year. I didn't do too shabby last year that I actually paid attention. :P Sticking with Foxhavens again.

I can't even remember how I did last year, but I'll sign up again, anyway.

Can't ever have too many fantasy teams.

Four years ago, I didn't even know the difference between Football and Baseball and I think I ended up second place.

Ok, but how do I get points?

Do I order my football men to eat your football men?

And, if so, which key is that function mapped to?

Ok that came off a little flippant, but can somebody just give me a basic summary

Your football men will accrue points based on SportsCenter appearances per night.

Just pick the ones you think have the best shot at a nice catch/pass/assault/battery.

There I expanded your list for you Capo.

Just a reminder that the draft is two weeks from Saturday, for those of you holding off on signing up.

If you're not old enough to stay up past 11 o'clock on a Saturday it's probably for the best that you can't come anyway.

It might have to be OK if we're only fielding SIX GFFers. What an atrocity.

Then again, looks like we've got all the people who were interested from last year, with a couple of exceptions. I'd still like it more if we had at least 8.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Finally realized it is about time to start reserving spots in fantasy leagues.

2nd in 06, 5th in 07, hoping the downward trend won't continue in 08.

I'll talk to a friend of mine to see if he wants one more Fantasy League, if you want an "outsider" in.

I'm in. I don't know why I've never joined the GFF league before. =/ But two drafts in one day for me = epic.

Anyway, I've yet to do a serpentine draft this year (it's all about auction yo), so this will be interesting for me... but only 8 teams? We're gonna be stacked.

EDIT: My only suggestion would be to add one more starting RB to the rosters (convert one BN spot to RB). This is how it's been in all my leagues and all man leagues (with sometimes the flex just being a third wideout spot), but especially with only 8 teams, the starting lineup should be deeper. I'd even argue for another starter spot, but... meh.

If you're suggesting that I add another RB slot based on the changing face of running backs, I counter that fantasy football has more of less stuck with the same set-up for years, through many perceived shifts in importance.

Now, what I WISH I could do is make the number of points you receive for a RB depend on how many carries he gets, in a multiplier fashion; if he only gets 1-5 touches, you get 70% of the maximum points; 6-10, 80%; 11-20, 90%; 21-30, 100%; 31-35, 110%, etc. Obviously that's just off the cuff and not exactly what I'd actually propose, but I think that would be a nice dynamic to add to a stagnant fantasy football system.

(Actually, looking at it, I thought I HAD 2 RBs starting. I don't know why I didn't.) (Also, playoffs will involve only 4 teams during weeks 15 and 16, since, you know, it doesn't make sense to have any more than half the league qualify for a playoff.)

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?
