Milestone Birthdays

Most people intend on doing something special for their birthdays, but it seems there's a trend to make any birthday marking a milestone (21st, 25th, 50th, etc.), a super big deal.

How about you? Have any super big plans for your upcoming next birthday? Any memorable stories out of ones you've had?

My 16th and 21st birthday was pretty crappy; I was sick throwing up my birthday cake but still had to make dinner for myself and my sister on my 16th, and the last time my family had dinner out together as a family before the divorce was on my 21st birthday. I think for my 30th party I'll go to Vegas. I haven't gone since I was 9. Seems like a plan: "Hey, it's my f'n 30th birthday. I'll be in Vegas, should you choose to party with me, bring your ass (and your money to buy me drinks) with you." Seems like every Californian turning 21 had their Vegas trip as if it was the right of passage.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Nothing special on the 16th.

21st was going to a mexican restaurant and drinking margaritas and tequila shooters.

25th, nothing special.

I have no idea what I'll do for my next birthday, let alone my 30th.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I celebrated my 18th in the pub I'd been pretty much living at for the previous two years, so it wasn't anything out of the ordinary and in fact had added guilt as I confirmed the suspicions of the landlord that I had definitely been putting his license in jeopardy, pretty horrid since he is such a nice guy He still talks to me though so I guess it can'tve been all that bad.

I'd like to do something spectacular for my 21st; my previous birthdays have either been of little variation from the usual routine or a disaster (14 - huge family argument, 15 - in hospital, 17 - massive relationship dramallama came out a few days previously and the fallout lasted a long time, and on the day a taxi driver ran over my foot). Still, I can't complain if I don't actually plan anything. I intend to change that next year, and a milestone birthday is the perfect excuse for extravagant plans.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

For my 30th birthday I had just broken up with my girlfriend at the time and I didn't feel like sticking around here. So I celebrated my 30th in Las Vegas drinking prodigious amounts of liquor, going to a strip joint, putting half of Colombia up my nose, getting tossed out of Palms Casino during a fight inside Rain Nightclub and thinking I'd killed a hooker when I woke up with half of my bed covered in dried blood on checkout morning. It was a great weekend.

How ya doing, buddy?

Nothing really special; a birthday is, after all, a birthday only for us. The only exception is my 20th, when was the first time I spent it with my pals. That's all.

I was speaking idiomatically.

For my 16th I had a pizza and marshmallow sleepover.

My 18th I went out for a meal with family.

My 21st I went out and got absolutely hammered the night before with my friends and boyf, then on my actual birthday after I managed to pull myself out of my bed I went for dinner with my boyf.

I've never done anything major for birthdays and the only parties I ever had were when I was very, very young. I like to try and do something different on my birthday each year, but I don't make a big production.

On my 18th a load of us went out in Brighton and managed to steal 18 pint glasses each from the pub. We then got pissed at a mate's house for three days, it was epic.

On my 21st I was in Manchester. We started the day drinking six pint jugs of vodka, redbull and champagne, then started drinking pints and chasers. One mate went home to change at one in the afternoon and never made it back out she was that pissed. We then went to an Irish pub up the road and have competitions with Hell's Angels as to who could down a pint of Guiness quickest (We knew them as they worked security at the club nexgt to the one I worked at), then we went to the club I worked at and was so drunk I forgot I wasn't working, staggered behind the bar and promptly passed out, landing on a fire extinguisher and breaking a rib. I then picked myself up and carried drinking pretty much all night. Next morning we were all still pissed so went out again and ended up playing Street Fighter in a pub all night because the manager wouldn't let us leave until he beat me, and he was shit at it. I don't really remember the next couple of days but I still have the dent in my ribcage.

Didn't really do much for my 30th, except the two month trip round the far east but that was more a present than a celebration.
