Ugh. Why do I even bother listening to this shit?
*click* goes my TV after watching a few minutes of Dubya pander to his captive audience of right-wingers who clap at the end of every sentence.
You see Dubya, in the states, JUST LIKE THERE OUGHT TO BE IN THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT BUT ISN'T THANKS TO YOU, the system of checks and balances fucking works. If something gets 99% approval from the people of a state and the state judges disagree, it is well within their given rights to strike it down. Just because YOU want to change the Constitution doesn't mean the state judiciary branches are about to let it happen. So, of course, you want to introduce a Constitutional Amendment defining marriage as being between a man and a woman so your right-wing buddies can be like the next-door dad in American Beauty and plow a .357 Magnum through some suspected homosexual's head without much worry about getting in trouble.
(That was the least rational thing I think I've ever said about anything.)
This is the atheist, independant, compassionate side of me coming out in full display. I hate the two-party system in this country because the issue, no matter how many Democrats are/were in that room with Bush while he was making his speech, is not black and white but all the American public is going to see is two sides to it. I hate religious activists using their vocal majority to try and polarize the issue in the country. And I hate that people can be so ignorant to think that their happiness supercedes everyone else's, being effortlessly blind that this marriage ban is going to hurt a lot of people who aren't doing anything wrong except in the eyes of God, which is such a retarded but widespread and accepted concept that to make an effort to argue against it is altogether ineffective. P.S.: some homosexuals believe in God. Makes sense to me.
Jam it back in, in the dark.
