Nujabes - 1973-2010 • R.I.P.
Jun Seba a.k.a. Nujabes, beloved hip hop producer and composer of several anime soundtracks including my personal favorite, Samurai Champloo, passed away on February 26. News was broken by fellow HydeOut Productions label mate Shing02
R.I.P. Jun Seba. One life. One love. Most amazing jew boots |
I just told Rotor about that last night. Pretty much ruined his day. It's too bad, Nujabes made some pretty awesome shit in the short time he was around.
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Damn.. such a sad loss.

FFFFFFFFF---
Well this is just terrible news. I think I'm gonna go burn one of his albums to a CD for the car, or something. Here's to a great artist going away too soon I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Very, very sad news indeed. The only thing we can hope is that his genius will be remembered through his collaborators and colleagues. Rest in peace.

I absolutely adored Modal Soul and all the work he did on Champloo. This was depressing news
FELIPE NO |
God damn that sucks. I'm really at a loss for what else to say, but this is really out-of-nowhere news that hits you like a jackhammer to the face. He had so many more awesome things to do, sick tracks to record.
*jams World's End Rhapsody* How ya doing, buddy? |
Wow, this is just horrible. Nujabes was a masterful producer and he created some of my favorite pieces of music ever. He will be missed.
Jam it back in, in the dark. |
I've been playing his tunes all day today. <3
The more I listen to it, the more I come to realize that, to me, Nujabes was so much more than "that dope hip hop producer". His music transcended language barriers and genres and it is this reason that he struck a chord with such an audience as he did worldwide. Few artists can say that their music alone was a movement, both metaphorical and emotional, and Nujabes was the real deal. I feel a genuine sense of sadness about this and now I can only rely on the knowledge that his music changed my lookout on hip hop for the better and added a bit of musical and lyrical sunshine to a world so clouded in darkness most of the time. He is most definitely missed. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
I'm with you there, compadre.
I certainly can't put this into words, but I have a feeling that the people will appreciate more his legacy from now on. I can't say I've feel this way before, almost, if not all the producers I admire and praise are alive now, you can name them, George Martin, Phil Spector, DJ Shadow, Dan the Automator, Dr Dre... and the list goes on. This is a huge loss. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
I'm trying to write something about this but I don't want to cheapen it. One of the reasons I ended up back into hip-hop after straying from the genre in highschool.

There is a chance that a record will be released post-mortem of the tracks he has been working on. That is going to be some heavy shit.
RIP nujabes I was speaking idiomatically. |
Extremely sad about this. Wrote on my blog about it and everything, and I've been listening to tons of his music over and over again. He was really young, which makes it even more a shame than the great talent not only the hip-hop scene lost, but everyone.
But yeah, apparently he left behind some songs that they're planning on releasing. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
good producer, liked his shit.
RIP. no homo |
