This is actually going to be the first time I've ever renominated from something in the seven or whatever years I've been participating, so I've gotta make sure the game is totally deserving of this.
And an etc. nom:
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Theme Week nom. This album has been nominated from twice so far - once by me - maybe the third time will be the charm (probably not):
Album: Cold Winter Original Game Music Score Artist: Mark Willot Track Title: Fight in the Prison Courtyard Track #: 4 Year: 2006 Info: VGMDB Comments: Long, drawn-out song, but I love the sound of this one. Hopefully it's not too boring for people. (It probably will be.) I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?
Check out my original music at my Soundcloud page!
Latest music rips (updated January 10, 2012): SimCity DS - Jazz/ambient/electronic music including interesting reworkings of songs from the fantastic SimCity 3000 soundtrack Cold Winter Original Game Music Score - Really cool; dark, full, emotional strings mixed with drums, piano, choir. Kind of like Furious Angels? Play-Asia - Japanese CDs, game soundtracks, game imports, & more

2 Points - - - Choice Nuggets: A Dog's Favorite Virt Songs - GYM TRAINING MONTAGE
2 Points - - - Spelunky (Remake Game Rip) - Jungle B 1 Point - - - Kousoku Card Battle: Card Hero (Game Rip) - Main Menu 1 Point - - - Sekaiju no MeiQ 4 *denshou no kyoshin* Super Arrange Version - Labyrinth III - Grotto of the Adamantine Beast Stage Theme is not a very descriptive name. I really like that intro. Any time that part from the intro comes up I think it's a cool. This is a pretty neat chiptune in general and I like all the little flourishes and stuff. I can't think of much to say about it other than that my opinion on it is positive. GYM TRAINING MONTAGE is possibly one of my favorites of ALL TIME. It's just everything I like at the same time. Mixed meter and weird phrasing; awesome 80s constant 16ths bass; awesome 80s FM synth sounds; heroic/triumphant/epic/whatever-you-want-to-call-it melodies; and more! I LOVE the synth patch for that synth solo that comes in at 1:47, I also love that solo. The reason this track is so significant to me is because "synthy 80s music that's proggy even though it's from a time period where very little was proggy" is a very specific/rare category of music that is one of my favorite types of music, and this is one of my favorite examples of it, if not my favorite (even though it was written in 2008)!!! It was one of my favorite discoveries of this year, I wonder if I ever would've found it if Virt hadn't released Choice Nuggets, that would have been sad ; ; ; ; ; q q Genesis is DARK. It's not really much to my taste out-of-context, but I can imagine liking the way it feels in context of something else. I like those electronic sounds subtly in the mix at parts, it's cool with the brooding feel. Probably my least favorite of this week though. Basically I like it a decent amount atmospherically (like the dark brooding feel and the subtle electronics), but compositionally (rhythmically, harmonically and melodically) I don't like it, at least not with this instrumentation. Main Menu is really cute and it reminds me of "Nintendo" and in particular Super Mario Sunshine. These chord changes are really cool. The panning of that one part thing thing at the section at :30 is significant to me for some reason so I have to underline the word significant. Also I like how if feels when it goes into minor at :30 because it's a cool contrast to the rest of everything that still fits with everything and even sounds cute somehow still. I like this whole thing it's fun. Labyrinth III - Grotto of the Adamantine Beast reminds me of a lot of stuff I liked at this one time period that I don't know what it is, well I kind of know what it is but not really. I'm [not[] ] going to just ramble and type nonsense about it while I listen to it right now. That voice reminds me of Orbital but this track doesn't sound like Orbital at all. Orbital used to be my favorite band back when my favorite genre of music was "techno" and it still kind of is except I don't call every single electronic thing "techno" now and the "techno" I like the most now is completely different (basically I like synthesizers and other ELECTRONIC sounds electricity jolt jolt zap). This also reminds me of Sonic R because ||||||rave piano||||||||| I don't like thinking in genres anyways that is LIMITING it's almost like someone ate a carbonated beverage and decide......3..3. 333333. Also I like the rhythm of that d, g, c thing at the end!!! I wasn't originally voting for this but at the last minute I decided to change my vote to it! Dai'jin Mines is very pretty and EMOTIONAL. It has some interesting chord changes that are part of what makes it so EMOTIONAL. Also it has a vaguely oriental feel and I like that. It wouldn't feel out of place in Okami (a game I liked the soundtrack to for the same reasons I like this track). Jungle B is a perfect combination of cool FM synth sounds, irregular meter, strange tonalities and overall quirkiness for my tastes~! I love the gaps of silence and just the flow from the wacky angular beginning to the slightly more tonal "normal" rhythmic feel part. I especially like right before :18 when it switches up the 5/4 - 4/4 switching loop and abruptly goes back to the thing from the beginning, making an unexpected 3/4 bar (at least if you're counting it that way!!! Maybe you're counting it differently...or not at all!!). That 13/8 part feels so funky and cool when it comes back in at :18 played against the quarter note drums over it. GAMEBOP I WANT TO GO TO YOUR HOUSE AGAIN SO I CAN LISTEN TO THIS SONG ON YOUR LAPTOP WHILE LOOKING AT THE 45 DEGREE ANGLE WALL THAT YOUR ROOM HAS IN IT BECAUSE YOU LIVE IN THE ROOF. This week is actually one of those rare weeks where I haven't though "wow I like this week everything is too good." It's probably one of my least favorite weeks in a while, but there are two I like WAY more than the others (GYM and Jungle); both "everything I like in it at the same time" songs. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
2 points: Kousoku Card Battle: Card Hero (Game Rip) - Main Menu
2 points: Spelunky (Remake Game Rip) - Jungle B 1 point: Choice Nuggets: A Dog's Favorite Virt Songs - GYM TRAINING MONTAGE 1 point: inFAMOUS: Official Soundtrack - Genesis Yo Uzuki, what's up dude I mostly nominated Main Menu because it's adorable and sometimes I just like music because it's really adorable. Though there are a bunch of tiny bits of the partwriting that I really enjoy too. I SEE AMON TOBIN IN THE ARTIST LINE FOR GENESIS TIME TO CRANK MY SYSTEM VOLUME UP TO THE PAIN THRESHOLD OH GOD 1:06 IT HURTS SO GOOD that was excellently produced btw Spelunky so good oh maaannnnnnnnnnnn FELIPE NO |

Completely forgot about this game until I saw it here. Excellent track, def gonna check out the rest of the soundtrack. Most amazing jew boots |
