The Flyers will probably pick it up at the end of the season starting now probably. It seems like every team that sucks picks it up at the end of the season.
I beg to differ, sir.

How ya doing, buddy?

Well by pick it up I dont mean winning every single remaining game. I just think they will have a couple winning streaks and finish out the season on a good note for their sake.

so here's the question from today... will Forsberg be worth the trade from the Flyers to the Predators? Can Forsberg remain healthy enough for Nashville to make it through the playoffs?
Thoughts... comments... other...

Personally, to see the trade made to a Western Conference team I'm concerned a bit obviously. Nashville is a strong contender and seem to be well on their way to dominating the Western Conference as Anaheim cannot seem to get out of this slump they've been in since the end of December. They have played a few good games over the past two months... but they are just sucking on all of their lines right now, especially being held without a goal in the past three games.
And Anaheim having to face a possible healthy Forsberg won't make their lives any easier... if we can't even score on the Avs then we're sucking. Hopefully they play well tonight against Phoenix to give themselves a much needed boost of confidence.

I am afraid of this news because I'm from Detroit. Forsberg went to the top seed team. I was kind of hoping he would come to the Wings but that would be almost like betrayal because of the old Wings / Avalanche rivalries. It sucks to see him move to the best team though.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Forsberg immediately makes Nashville the team to be in the West...if he's healthy. Always been a big question mark with him, especially now that he's 33.

Being an Avs fan, the salary cap pretty much ruined my chances of seeing Sakic and Forsberg both stay on the team, but that's all right. What bothers me more is Colorado's lackadaisical performance for most of the season. Budaj + Theodore in net is extremely inconsistent, and Milan Hedjuk and Wojtek Wolski have been subpar.

On the plus side, we got a nice win over the Flames last night, mostly because Sakic went crazy (2G, 3A).

Penguins keep finding ways to get points, and tonight they got 2 off of the Devils. Now 5 points back of the Devils with 3 more games to play against them this season.

Well, congrats to Sakic on getting #600. I respect that, even though I hate the Avalanche.

Also, while Forsberg going to Nashville is not good news for us Detroit fans, seeing Nashville get shut out tonight was good.

Colorado is finally experiencing, for the first time, what it means to begin to turn into a rebuilding franchise, and it warms the very cockles of my heart. Colorado fans have been spoiled for too long. I'm glad they're finally having to watch their team lose some games.

That's true for anyone who followed the franchise only after the move, I'll give you that. For those who followed the Nordiques, however, 1987-92 was more than enough suffering for my tastes. Ironically, it was Forsberg (as well as everyone else included in that massive Eric Lindros trade) who pulled them out of the cellar and into being perennial contenders.

Besides, fans in Colorado have had to put up with the Nuggets and Rockies. They've suffered plenty as it is.

How many Avalanche fans do you seriously think were Nords fans before the move? The vast majority of Colorado fans think the NHL was invented in 1995.

From Philadelphia's side of things, they just committed highway robbery with this trade.

I wouldn't even have given a first rounder alone for Peter Forsberg. He's most likely a rental, plain and simple. I don't even think I need to talk about the bummed ankle(s). I'd only pay that much for a rental is if he was an absolute top-ten all-around player in the league, and that includes intangibles (Leadership included). I mean to take nothing away from Forsberg, who as we all know, has sick skills.

To get Scottie Upshall, who will most likely be a solid second liner, future top pairing defenseman Ryan Parent, AND first and third round picks for Peter may be the deal of the decade for Philly. It is almost immeasurable how much this will contribute to Philly's rebuilding process.

I guess what I'm getting at is that this move is basically unnecessary for the Predators. Enough with the "When you have the chance to get this kind of player, you do it" crap, Nashville could have given half that package for someone like Sheldon Souray, who would have put them over the top where they really need it.

They don't need offense. Yes, they helped their defense by pulling off two great deals to get Vitaly Vishnevski. But getting Forsberg was absolutely unneccesary for their offense. They need that gritty, top defenseman who can lead them in the playoffs to succeed in the Western Conference.

And with Forsberg, Nashville loses 4-1 to Minnesota. He's not making a big impact just yet.

And Zetterberg got his first career hat trick tonight, as Detroit beat Phoenix 4-1. Jason Williams hit the post on an empty net try from five feet away ( ) but unlike another missed empty netter this season, Williams got a second chance and scored. Detroit also leaped past Nashville and into first place in the Western Conference.

I don't recall saying they existed in droves.

Avs lost to the Flames 5-2 last night, despite being up 2-1 near the end of the second. Sakic had an assist. Problem was, Budaj gave up three goals on just ten shots in the second.

Now sitting nine games out of the last playoff spot in the West, Colorado's going to need a win against the Flames Tuesday and a bunch more in the next few weeks to have much of a chance.

Word in Philly is that Forsberg wants to come back to the Flyers next season and if he is a free agent he may be re-signed here.

The Penguins were primed for a loss after scratching out their four wins before that. They were scoring a lot, but they were also giving up a lot, and it bit them last night. Still, they've been able to win the close ones, which bodes well for the playoffs.

Avs are pretty much done. They're not going to be successful with the horrible salary cap structure they have anyway, so it's pretty much to be expected. But two-thirds of their remaining games are on the road, so say good night.
