Registry pop-ups
For the past few weeks, I've been getting these messages on my computer saying things like, "There's a critical error with your registry!" The pop-up always includes some website for me to go to in order to fix the supposed error. I know this is some form of spyware because these messages only show up while I'm accessing the Internet. I've run AVG and Spybot. The problem persists. Can anyone suggest something that will get rid of this rather annoying problem?
Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Click Start, then go to Run. In the run dialog that pops up, type "services.msc" {without the quotes obviously}.
When the Services console comes up, scroll through the list to Messenger. Right click Messenger, then go to Properties. In the dialog that pops up, click Stop {which will stop the service}, then once it stops, change the startup type to Disabled. Click Apply and you're done. There's nowhere I can't reach. I didn't say I wouldn't go fishin' with the man.
All I'm sayin' is, if he comes near me, I'll put him in the wall. |

Okay, I've done all that. Now, I just have to wait and see...
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
